Dane elec M6

Here goes 1st post.
Bought this for my wifes Christmas from Advanced mp3 players in Scotland and was dissapointed that it had no FM radio and the volume was pretty low. Set about upgrading the FW from s1.010 to s1.010 following the advice from this great forum, no poblems doing that didn't even have to put the bin file in twice rebooted and hey presto Chinese (the only Chinese character I know is Charlie Chan).
So for anyone with the Euopean version this upgrade gives you the FM radio and louder volume just remember to count the steps needed to get to the setting menu (plus 1 for the extra Fm radio that you will now have) and then to the lanuage menu .
Got to wrap it up now and put it under the tree.
Thanks everybody for the great tips and Happy Christmas (to all persuasions)

Download firmware from meizu 1.010 and flash it. I did mine last night, whole process took about 10 minutes (including download). Generic firmeware removes the volume restriction and re-enables the radio. There may be warranty implications though (which means if you get problems then flash it back before returning it). My M6 has been vastly improved by using generic 1.010 firmware. Mine rebooted straight into English though after the flashing. Which firmware did you use ?

Yeah its weird that some european players are sold without FM and with a volume limitation.
I understand the volume limitation due to legistlation but why no FM?

There is a 10% extra duty fee on products with FM-radio within EU. That's why they want too skip this to be able to sell it cheaper. The volume limit is set to follow the French law. In most of the countries there are no law on volume limits though. But it's easier to make one FW for a bigger area then one for each country.

I bought it from miniplayer.info and it came without the extra limitations thankfully.
