    "Sort songs by" function

I'm a bit confused about the "sort songs by" function.

When I select sort by -> artist, and then browse all songs it's a mess!
It's not sorted by artist, and not album, title or filename either.

Can anyone help me, had anyone else had this sympton to?
(I'm using id3-tags and the songtitle are also the songs filename.

    Best regards, Martin

hmm... if your songs are tagged correctly, there should be no problems. i've never had any problems with the "sort by" function.

oh wait, did you remember to update your music library? after selecting your "sort by" option, you'll have to update the library. to do this, select Music > Update Music Library. that should fix it.

    Well, it doesn't.
    It's still a boring mess.
If I had get it right the "sort songs by > artist" should sort the songs by their artists name from A-Z?

So if I have one song titled "hello" and artist "Alpha", and one song titled "dubidoo" and artist "Beta", it should sort like this in "all songs" list:

    1 hello - alpha
    2 dubidoo - beta

If that's correct something must be wrong with the function on my player...
    Suggestions?

    Thanks!

What firmware version is on your player.

I had track sorting problems even though my ID3 tags were correct. there were two things that were causing the problems.

1: Upgrade to 1.010 firmware (This version also displays WMA tags greater than 25 characters in length - which previous versions did not).

2: MP3 ID3 tags come in several versions use a program called ID3-TagIT to remove version 1.x ID tags from your music so you are left with just version 2.x ID tags. Its seems that if your music contains both versions which mine did the M6 uses V:1.x not V:2.x. It sorts correctly when using V:2.x

    I hope this helps

    It didn't work.
I deleted all the V1 ID-tags, reinstalled S.1.010, and choose sort by artist, and updated library (tried without update to).

What more can be wrong? I really want to be able to sorting by artists!
