If it`s a charger for USB and it gives 500 mAh at least, why not ?

true, you can use any mini usb ended charger that has 5V 400 mA

also those universal USB-Wallchargers work very well

    I've got a charger that says "5V 550mA" (It's a charger for Motorola V3 cell-phone). Is it OK?
    The miniPlayer says "400mA max."...

When your charger can make more mAh`s available, it`s no problem.
Your device takes only as much as it needs.

hi guys ! i'm also interested in knowing what battery charger is fine... the cheapest one i found was he ncusb by neonumeric with 5V and 400mA... apparently, some people claim you need 400mA, others 500mA, and now 800mA ! can someone be absolutely sure that 400mA will work (obviously someone who has a 5V 400mA charger) ? thanks in advance

Why don`t you buy an active USB- hub?
They are quite cheap and you have both- the charger & the hub.

No, it multiplies your USB-ports. The active ones have their own power- supplies that are in fact the same thing like a charger (most of them with the same mini-usb-plug you need to connect to your M6)

...any old charger will do - oh, really?

I really have to question the stated amperage and voltage of some of these after market chargers. I am confident in everything that I learned in physics II about circuits and such but what I am not too confident about is whether my $10 blackberry charger is doing more harm than good to my M6 - although it "says" 5.0v 500mA - on the sticker - when I plug it into the M6 and touch the metal sides of the miniplayer - it literally feels as if I touching a Van de Graaff Generator! What gives? That just can't be good!

:P The player is using a maximum of 400 mA of current. The charger can only provide more, nothing serious. See it like drinken something through a straw: When you suck harder, there is more current flowing. The M6 can only 'suck' with 400mA, while the charger can serve a device that can suck harder. I hope you'll understand. :P
