Hey all,
I have a 4 gig, Meizu Miniplayer, TP Edition.
Today I started it up only to get the infamous White Screen. If I held the power/play/pause button down, it would show up for a second, but the Miniplayer would not turn on. When I let go, I would see a flash for a VERY brief amount of time (like it normally does when it would start up).
I have used DFU Tools, and been able to have Windows successfully detect it as a DFU device. I have tried numerous times to use DFU Tools to download two images to my Meizu. I have tried firmwares 1.010 R4, 1.009, and 1.008, being successful (after many unsuccessful tries) in having them being downloaded to my Meizu.
I presume it is successful, as I see the Enumerating message in the Status Bar after the second image is downloaded, and I am allowed to click the close button. Furthermore, once this is done, Windows does not see the device as a DFU device any longer until I plug it in again.
However, I still run into the same error (namely, if I push the power button, a white screen will appear for a second, then disappear).
I can't figure out what is going on here. I don't understand what is broken, and how I can fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI actually did already. Yet, if it was totally messed up, wouldn't it not turn on at all (nor be recognized by Windows)?
I should mention a very important part:
"If I plug my Meizu back in while holding the power and menu buttons, Windows will once again recognize it in DFU mode".

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI might as well ask you as I am trying again, if I get the DFU Server is Not Responding error, should I just let it keep going? And if so, how long?
Also, what is the 'enumerating' part of the process? If it is important, why am I allowed to 'Close' the application (DFU Tools)?Last edited by dmort; 06-07-2007 at 05:01 PM.

Ah , sorry , i didnt read your entire post.
You are holding the power and Broken arrow key throughout the entire process???
Try the resets in the FAQ ( Power and M Or >> Or << )Click the little (+/-) button next to someone to reward or punish someone

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHey,
By broken arrow key, you mean the menu key (M)? If so, yeah, I am holding both keys during the entire process.
I even got a rubber band, and some other things that would effectively hold those two buttons indefinitely. I then let DFU tools do it's thing in which the last time or so it was 'stuck' at Downloading Image 1 for roughly fifteen minutes (the program never recovered).
The resets don't see to work. I never saw any response if I held down the >> or << keys either individually or with the power button. However, from what I read, this is suppose to have the player turn itself off but I don't even know if it really 'turns on', save for the initial white screen flash.
See, it's weird. If I push the button, the white screen will come up, then go away like normal. Then, if I let go of the power button, there will be a very brief flash, like it is trying to load. However, it never does.
Also, when do I know DFU tools was successful? Is it when the close button is active? I noticed that the Status bar has the word, "Enumerating" at the end, so I don't know if I am suppose to let my miniplayer stay connected during that time.Last edited by dmort; 06-07-2007 at 11:28 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSo, an update. I have been bouncing between two threads and have done the following:
I installed the 2.003 firmware. No real change except with that firmware, if I hold the power button down, my miniplayer will flash the white screen for a second or two, then go back to a blank screen. Nothing except holding the enter button (to have it reset) will work. I know it resets and turns itself off as after I hold the enter button down, it will flash for a very brief second.
I have installed the 1.008 firmware back on the miniplayer. So now it is at the point where it will flash the white screen for a second or two, then go to a blank screen. If I let go, it flashes for a moment, I guess to reset itself and turn itself off.
Pushing power and >> or power and << with either firmware does nothing. I can still have it become a DFU devie and detected by DFU server. However, I can't get it to work well enough that it will reset itself, or anything else like that. The only thing that I can think of that could be left is just totally draining the device (if I hold down the power button and the menu button, how long will that take), but I don't forsee how that will help me.
Any other ideas on this one?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWow, the same type of player (TP) and the SAME EXACT THING!! This is exactly the same thing I got. Did you get anywhere with it? I already did the drain thing by taking a bottle cap and rubber band to hold the play button down. I then lift up and hold the m button then set the cap back onto the play button and let go, so the screen just stays on, pure white with light on full power... same screen you see flash for a second when you turn it on, but this stays on constantly. Does that happen to you, too?
I let it drain, and when it gets to a certain point, the screen goes out... but that's not all! Then after 1 second, the screen flashes back on then off, as if you were starting it up like normal... and then does that again and again and again repeatedly, getting faster and faster with the times it flashes back on until it's going like on-off-on-off-on-off-on-off and eventually shuts off for good, I guess, since the first time I tried letting it run down, it was already off when I got home from work.
When I plug it into the usb as if trying to charge it, it does the same flash to nothing, and shuts off again when I unplug it, blinking with that "LCD black" screen that looks like a white flash (same thing you get when you let go of the play button after you let the initial white flash happen). I've gotten DFU to complete the upload by switching to USB1.1 mode, and also had 2 times so far where it got frozen partway through the first process. I get "Failed to connect" and "Failed to verify firmware" about n90% of the tries of doing this, and just randomly get it to finish correctly, and it changes nothing. I can't reset or anything if the damn thing doesn't STAY ON after holding play. Trying it with the USB plugged in, or while holding m then play to force it to stay on doesn't let it reset either. Holding enter does nothing. Check for me other posts to get that I have done everything correctly, right down to having an intel USB chipset on my intel based intel pentium processor INTEL, INTEL, NOT AMD motherboard.I swim through a sea of stars, without looking back to shore...
