do these things die a lot, or what...?

So I got my M6 about a week ago, and I really love it. It's v. v. easy to use.
    HOWEVER.
While I was updating my music library today, with a FULLY CHARGED battery, my player started playing on its own (i know, wtf??? must be haunted), and now the screen has gone to black. It's still playing music! I've tried shutting it down. Nope, not happening. I've tried resetting and hard resetting it. Not working at all. The screen is STILL black.
So I tried to plug it into my PC and do either a firmware update or run DFU tools. Well, it's not recognized by my computer. According to my PC, there is no player hooked up to it (which is usually not the case). And while i know that the player is supposed to stop while it's attached via USB, you know what? EVEN HOOKED TO MY PC IT IS STILL PLAYING MUSIC!!!! Agggh!
I am at my wit's end.
PLEASE help if you can! Is this the part where I return it to amazon.com??
    Yes, I have tried resetting.

Is the hold switch on? move it to the other side and try again to turn off etc.
I know it not much help ,but easy to over look.

only other option is to let battery run down and recharge to reset it,
don't try and upgrade software or DFU, until it acting normal or as last resort.

Could just be faulty if new so try warranty claim.

try letting it drain completely.. that wont take long if the player is still playing music..

Chances are after that and re-charging it will function normally again
