protocl: how did you fix it? I have the same problem. I have sound and stuff, but the screen is white.

    plz help!

    NEVER MIND!

    got it to work!

    Used a tip from the archive of this site;

    "Just fixed it

After reading more and more posts it appears that the miniPlayer is virtually impossible to brick. This spirred me on in finding a fix. In the end I found it.

    This is what I did:-

    1. Press and hold the Enter button for about 30 sec or until it powers off. (This was the bit I was stuck on for a long while, but appears I was wasn't holding it long enough).
    2. Using the F&Q from this site I did a DFU Tool recovery: -

    1. Install DFU Tools on your computer (only available for Windows).
    2. Copy the firmware files (M6.EBN and resource.bin) to the directory where the DFU Tool is installed.
    3. Press and hold Power button and M button, then connect to PC using the USB cable.

NB - YOU MUST NOW KEEP THE POWER BUTTON AND M BUTTON DEPRESSED ALL THOUGH THIS PROCESS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FINGERS OFF THEM.

    4. Before that Windows New Hardware Wizard will appears, asking if you want to connect to Windows Update to check for drivers, click on “No, not this time”. Click on next.
    5. The next screen of the wizard asks if you want to install automatically or using a specific location (advanced). Select the advanced option, and then click next.
    6. Check the 'Include this location in the search' option and specify the directory where DFU Tools is installed, after that, click next.
    7. Let windows finish installing drivers. Once drivers are installed, you can use the DFU Tools.
    8. Run the application and then click Download. When this is complete click close.
    9. Disconnect your Miniplayer from PC and turn it on.
    10. Screen showed will be green now, so you have to install the firmware again. After that your player will work fine again.

    3. When I powered on it came up the normal "Updating Software" message as normal, but then a white screen again.
    4. Powered off again by holding the Enter button for 30 secs.
    5. Powered on again, but still white screen, so I did a Hard Rest by holding the Power on “>>|” buttons together until the player went off.
    6. Powered back on the I now have firmware 2.002.3

I think the message here is never give up. Stay calm. Read the forums and follow the instructions to the letter.

    Hope this helps people."

I did this, and used different types of firmware.. it works now! weee!!!

Well it worked, but now, I get the Updating Disc Information freeze-up.
I loaded my 8GB meizu with 5.6 GB of music, and I was aware that the new library could take some time to udate... but I have waited hours now. So I am doing the DFU trick again... see what happens
