    Some pictures are pixelly

Some of my pictures have big square boxes (looks like large pixels, or corruption) when viewed on the M6, but when viewed on the computer it looks fine. They work fine on my IRiver Clix. I was wondering if it's the firmware, or something to do with the format?

I'm assuming my video's are pixelly because of the conversion? I used BADAK, and used the MED settings.

Ouch, could you send one of the pictures that seems corrupted so I can see if the same file gets pixelly on my M6 ?

I've watched all of the family guy episodes on my miniplayer, it's just perfect for watching cartoons

I think my Family Guy is bad because of the poor quality of the original file I'm converting (Mp4), and it's already pixelly on my computer (dark of Dawn I will send you a file).

Ooohh...yeah my clix is just a glorified alarm clock now. I have an IRiver H320 also (20Gig HDD Mp3 player) which is now just a portable HDD, but I'm not tossing it!

I bought IRiver because it came out with cool players, that could also play OGG and videos, and you could view text, it had a FM radio, and a recorder, and the M6 has all of those features I needed, plus it's got the touch scroll pad (which all my IPod friends have been tempting me with their IPods on)

I want to say that the M6 is better than the Clix, and I've had a Clix for a looong time. The cons of the Clix are: slow slow slow start time, slow response to the click system (especially when you scroll right between menus, I adjusted the scroll speed to 4x and it's still laggy), you have to click a lot to get a song, the screen is slightly smaller, it uses a different usb cable... but overall it's pretty good. Except I think it might be going backwards a bit if you've had a M6 (and it's not because I'm on this forum that I'm giving good reviews to the M6, the M6 has it's weaknesses too but not as many)

The only reason I'm not tossing the Clix is the cool cradle with remote control! It's like a portable TV, but this week it's been just collecting dust. (The Clix also has SRS WOW if you are into sound quality, but I can't tell the difference)

Here is what I wrote about the Clix on MiniPlayer's forum
    --------------------------------------------------------
I have both an IRiver Clix & I just bought the Miniplayer (and love it!). I've had the IRiver 2Gig for many months now.

My 2 main reasons for updating was:
    1. The start time on the clix is sllllooow
    2. I wanted something bigger than 2 Gigs
    3. The service & support was average

Now my Clix is just an alarm clock (the click system is annoying and it's slow)

I like both, but if anyone wants some help on which ones to buy, here are pros for both, but I would recommend the M6 and it's not because I'm on this forum (I've had many IRiver players).

    Clix Pros
    --------------
    1. stable firmware
    2. you can play Flash games
    3. That TV/Alarm clock cradle is awesome!
    4. Great sound quality
    5. the software makes it easy to create playlists
    6. Has an alarm clock function

    Miniplayer pros
    ----------------
    1. I love the scrolling touch pad
    2. The Load & shutdown time is faster
    3. I'm totally sold on how you can mod the skins, and face of the M6
    4. it has cool accessories
    5. Slightly bigger screen (but it's almost the same)
    6. the USB cable connector is the same as my camera/PSP connector
    7. great to be able to get things fixed by their tech support

I have an IRiver store nearby, and everytime I take my friends to the IRiver store to buy the same MP3 player I have, it was totally obsolete, this happened to 3 players I bought in the span of 1.5 years. aka they were then put on the discount table & archive cabinet and were unpurchasable. which is all for the better, but then it feels like we got outdated so quickly. There were other strange things about pricing (e.g. the next week the Clix was half price on the discount table), & they wouldn't let me buy accessories on display, I still had to order them online, but it was on display! These are nothing to do with the player itself.

But don't get me wrong IRiver was my first love but I am totally sold on the M6.

I've seen the same thing, and I'm convinced that it's a JPEG decompression bug.

If you open the problematic image in Photoshop, change the JPEG compression from (for example) 12 to 10, resave, and put it on your M6. You'll probably find that it works.

mercf007, the pictures you sent me work just fine on my M6, have you tried changing the firmware ? Also re-compressing the pictures as Overdrive said seems like a good idea.

Note: I'm using the S1.010 firmware - I've never flashed my player.
