Meizu M6 - Itunes files don't appear as Artist, just "unknown"

Got my M6 4GB yesterday, tried to simply place my itunes MP3 folders onto the music folder, but only the songs which i have downloaded off limewire (which are very few) appear in the "Artist, Album" sorting. The rest converted from CDs appear in "unknown Artist, or Unknown Album" This is very annnoying!!

A friend told me his artist worked when he put the files on the player with Creative media source. Ive done that, but it didnt work.

So now, if i convert the files using mediasource, to a WMA file, it does seem to work!!

However, this is VERY time consuming!!! Is there another way!?

That's becaues the miniplayer does not support AAC, Apples stupid audio format. You will have to convert the AAC files to mp3 / ogg / wma.
The easiest way for future use with iTunes is to change the option "AAC encoder" to "MP3 encoder" in the iTunes settings under advanced/import.

"Apples stupid audio format"??!!

Sorry.. You're very wrong! This audio format is my fav, I use it on my w810i (complete album about 30mb > 96kB/s < realy great). I can't wait until meizu add AAC audio support, btw. I don't think that this is "Apple" format;]

nothing to do with audio format

the reason is when you rip CDs from iTunes, iTunes tags the mp3s and puts the information in IDv2, meizu only understands IDv1 tags. which is why it doesn't know what artist/album the song belongs to.

use tag&rename to syncrhronize your v1 and v2 tags

the firmware on meizu is not as mature as creative, creative have been making mp3 players before ipod ever came out.

Meizu does understand ID3v2.

also MP4 and AAC are better audio encoding systems and hopefully will be supported by Meizu as there is no licencing fee like with mp3.

AAC Info
MP4 Info

Xavster, you said "use tag&rename" to convert the tags to ver. 1. Could you elaborate? Which program has this function?

Also, Firepower, if the miniplayer does support ID3v2, then why am I getting the same 'unknown' errors? What can I do about that? (I have already upgraded to firmware ver. S2.002.3)

Well, I figured out my problem. I guess I should have waited 45 minutes before posting my question. My problem stemmed from extra information in the tags. When I viewed the properties for all the files that weren't recognized correctly, I noticed that the comments section contained strings like this: "00000AFE 000006D4 00008961 00003557 0002CC1F 0005E40F 00008787 000086C1 0002EED0 0002EED0". I am sure it served some sort of purpose for the original ripper, but once I deleted the contents of the comments section, I was good to go. Yippee!!

BTW, this is my first day with the miniplayer and I absolutely love this thing!

I think the same has happened to me, Funny TAGs, but I usually delete all comments in my tags, thats probably has fixed things by default. I also now use mp3tag to rename all my filenames and tags to be connsistant.

if you guys use itunes, just fix your tags and convert them to v 1.1 (which has track number as well)

Hi! I just bought an M6 earlier today, and I'm having the same problem. Thing is, I'm on a iBook, and can't use tag&rename (I'm also a bit curious as to whether that program would affect my iTunes library, were I on windows instead of OSX).

Does anyone have any other suggestions for getting the tags to work? I've had no luck with trying to sort the files differently on the player itself.

/Gus.
