I, too have experienced a similar problem. The promotional video that came with the Meizu from Dane Elec was playing brilliantly in high resolution. I upgraded without saving any of the pro stuff. When I downloaded the protional video from http://en.meizu.com/product/product_media.asp. I can only open this avi file on my Mac using VLC and it won't play more than a second of black screen on the Meizu (it displays a symbol for the avi file but that's it).

all i see is this hour-glass symbol. I wait to the data is fully loaded, even leaving the usb connection for 15 minutes.

That only turned the player off. The problem remained. My video is not playing. I click the film symbol and a black background with an hour glass appears and then the Meizu goes to display screen.

@ damoclese: maybe you dont have enough space on your meizu.the m6 needs some cache memory to play video.

I'm confused. It's a 4gb meizu. I just got it and only have 12 pics and 1 album on. I have 3.69 gb free.

Holding the enter button down basically turns your player off from a freezed condition. I always use that if a video doesn't play. If a video is not playing, it is usually a problem with the video conversion.
