If eBay - tough luck. I read somewhere you're going to China, so you might have to wait til' then.

So they paid shipping for you with your repaired M6? That's beyond their scope of duty...

Well... I'm in Canada now, so shipping to and from China isn't very expensive, but does anyone know what number(s) or e-mail address I should make an inquiry with?

    ... I just want a working Meizu.

P.S. China fell through, so I'm going to Europe for 5 weeks (found cheap airfare)

Where did you get it from? Most of the warranties are taken care of by the sellers, not Dane-Elec (if it is a Dane-Elec). As a seller that is part of what we are to provide, and I in turn send it back for a credit.

Of course, this only works if you've purchased through an authorized source, or someone who is willing to back up what they sell. Your users manual should tell you what to do in case of a warranty claim.

tradeeasy1201. I'd contact them and see what they have to say. Since they were selling unauthorized Meizu's though, you may have a hard time getting any support, but that would be your first option. He's no longer selling Meizu since Meizu started to try and crack down on the unauthorized sellers in China.

But in all honesty, I don't think that Meizu has a printed policy that the warranty is only good if purchased through an authorized retailer. Dane-Elec's warranty only states that the warranty card and invoice be returned to them within 14 days of purchase, no mention of who the seller is.

Good luck though. If you've properly registered your product, I think that Meizu should honor it.

so, are you an authorized reseller? cause in china, its pretty easy to buy meizu items and resell them, authorized or not...

Come on guys, have you considered trying..... oh I don't know maybe going to the English Meizu homepage www.en.meizu.com and clicking on the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page.

I have always found them to be quite prompt in replying to email enquiries.

A few suggestions, be courteous and polite with your enquires, these are proud and honourable people who will try to help you if they can. They will not respond well to abuse or Meizu bashing.

Remember that English is not their native tongue so be precise and to the point about your problem. Long winded babble does not translate well.

If bought through an official supplier there is a 12 month warranty on your player from the date of purchase but you will have to supply a dated receipt of purchase to qualify for it. If you bought or intend to buy your player from an unofficial supplier who does not provide support or offers a limited warranty you do so at your own risk, Meizu is not obliged to supply any follow-up service on their behalf.

It is preferred that you deal directly with your supplier regarding repair\warranty claims but if that is not possible ie: The player was purchased as a gift by a friend on holiday in China and you have no details of the supplier or the supplier cannot be contacted etc. Explain this to them.

Provide your players serial number in your enquiry. You will find it on the back of the player or the original packaging.

You will have to pay for postage when returning the player. If it is a valid receipted warranty claim repair and parts will be covered by the warranty if not you will have to pay for the repair with an International Bank Transfer.

Ask them to send you the return address in Chinese and English so you can print it out and stick it to the return package. Your package will have a greater chance of arriving safely if addressed correctly. It could take up to 4 weeks for your package to even arrive at Meizu so do not expect a quick turn around it will most likely be 2-3 months before you receive your player back.

Do not bleat about firmware additions, bugs or future updates, the people you are dealing with are not responsible for design or manufacture of Meizu products and you will just get a polite standard thank you and that these problems will be addressed in future updates. Believe me they are aware of most of the issues.

The DFU Tool is not forgiving and no longer supported or supplied by Meizu the reason being that most users do not follow the recovery process correctly resulting in further complications that can only be corrected at a factory level.

Meizu is a fledgling company that originally looked no further than supplying a quality product to the local market. It did not anticipate the attention it would receive in the Global Marketplace with the release of the M6 or the rapid growth as a result of it. It has invested heavily in expansion and research and development of products like the M8 in order to embrace the opportunity but it is a huge learning curve for them and they are working slowly to establish a global network of distribution and support with the likes of Dane-Elec who have existing networks and far more experience in these areas.

With the move into their new factory mostly completed they are starting to once again endeavour to provide support at their on-line English forum http://en.meizu.com/userforum/default.asp but realistically other than providing information on how to try and reset your player there is possibly not much they can do for a dead player other than recommending it be returned to the supplier for repair.

As /\/\@D/\/\@/\/ said, your seller should be your first contact regarding warranty or repair. While we can't always give you the answer that you'd like, a reputable seller should be able to help facilitate the process.

Meizu is fair, but fairly stern on their warranty policy. The one thing that they do struggle with though is the "authorized" seller scenario. In the US and Canada, Dane-Elec is their supplier for M6's, but they have no distribution or "authorized" sellers for the M3. D-E will always support their players, but not directly, only through their resller distribution channel. That is part of being an authorized seller of D-E, and they are very easy to deal with on that.

Once you get into the gray market, which for Meizu is anything outside of mainland China, you have to rely on the sellers to work on your behalf. If these are ebay sellers, that can sometimes be a problem, because they may not even know the proper procedure for presenting a product to Meizu for warranty. That is the risk that is taken when someone chooses to purchase on ebay directly from China. The money you save upfront can easily be lost if a player has to be sent back for warranty work.

The thing is, especially with the M6, it can almost always be recovered with the DFU tools. I've had several returned to me, in which the customer said they tried the DFU tools and it didn't work, but I was able to immediately recover it and return it to them.

Hmmm, maybe that should be part of my services offered, M6 recovery for a small fee.

Good luck, and if I can be of assistance, let me know.
