Oh, thank you so much, you're an angle!
Mine was broken as well, but after holding in the "enter"-key for about 4 minutes, it booted again. I don't know if I really had to hold it down for so long, but I wanted to ensure that I had tried that one too before I sent the player back. And boom, it worked.

I'm not completely satisfied though, since I bought the player yesterday, and already today I'm having problems with it. Lack of quality or something?
Well, I can't really say that either, because it's a beautiful and good player when looking away from the "bugs" errors occurring now and then.

Remember to add this to the FAQ!

Perhaps Meizu should start thinking, than there wouldn't be so many disgruntled customers ready to smash this poser MP3 player

monatomic c'mon. You're burnt-up, and we understand that. But running around in the forum bashing everything Meizu won't be a benefit for either of us.

ouchast, can you make you FAQ reminder a bit larger please ? Some may not have seen it fullscreen yet.

Actually, I have every right to bash this pathetic company and its trashy products! I haven't even had this player for a month and its already worthless. I should have known better, you don't get quality for 100 dollars, that goes for just about anything, especially something that claims to work so great.

My only option is to return it to newegg for another crappy meizu player.

Oh, and you can bet I'm going to wright a nasty review as well!

Bitching might not solve anything, but I'm certainly not going to act like this player isn't worthless...sorry if I am offending your Meizu fan boy outlook.

try to fix your player and enjoy it. People like you who dont read and follow instruction will always have problems. Thats why i dont follow newegg.com reviews anymore because of people like you. You would be the only one to give it a bad review.

We told you to use dfu tools and revive your player, even if it freezes in dfu tools and whatever. IT IS NOT DEAD!!!!!

    Hi guys...

I have a dead M6 SP version 4GB. I've tried the hard reset, the factory reset, all to no avail.

    Here's the story.

First, I run a Mac, so the connections are all to a Mac.

Second, the unit was fully charged when I started the procedure. I bought it last October or so. Can't remember when, but well under 6 months.

I was backing up the data on the player, but found that many of the files as they transferred across were reported as faulty or broken, so would not transfer.

I saw in the manual that you can re-format the memory, so I did that, using the MS-Dos formatting option on the Mac's Disktools software.

I used the security option of writing all 0's to the drive.

The unit then behaved semi-normally, except that after disconnecting and on switch-on it told me it had no resources.

So I downloaded some firmware. Turns out it was the wrong firmware
    (2004.4 for SL).

Once that was in the unit, it switched on, gave me the green screen and told me it was re-formatting itself. but then froze. I managed to sort that out (can't remember exactly how). But it was connecting to the Mac, but not functioning properly.

Then I downloaded some more firmware (T2004.3 for M6 TP). After that I got the white screen, but eventually realised that the on/off button does work (kind of) even though the screen shows white.

By now I had realised I needed to know which version of player I had. (SP)

So I hooked it up to the Mac again and re-formatted (MS_DOS) with the 0 over-write.

Once it was re-formatted on the Mac, I still had the white screen, so did the mock swich-off (return for 10 secs) and on again. Then re-connected and found the file structure in place. So I copied the third version of the firmware across (S2004.3 for SP).

Then disconnected and found that the switch-off worked.

But it won't switch on at all. No way, no how.

    I've tried pressing every combination of buttons ({return & on-off} / {ff & on-off} / {FB & On-off} and others) for times up to 5 minutes.

The only spark of life I get out of it is after pressing {on/off and return} for 10 secs or so, releasing them and then the on/off. I get a pulse of light, just like when it was working properly. But then the "loading.... " screen does not appear. and the screen remains determinedly black.

If I connect to the Mac, the computer does not see the unit at all. it appears completely dead.

ANy suggestions before I contact the seller?

    Yay!

    Hello World!

DFU tools worked. I borrowed a windows lappy and did the DFU procedure. Only slight issue was that I had to hold the return key down for 10 secs prior to connecting. Once it did that mini flash, it turneditself off.

SO remedy is to work out the procedure for getting the mini flash. Then press the M and return and then connect to the PC.

Then the DFU as you have described it on the FAQ.

Excellent! Thanks for the site, guys!
