is it not so that the resource.bin contains the text (and images)?
if we use rockbox we will not need resource.bin anymore i guess, but maybe there is some information in there that might be usefull also, since it does affect the players boot procedure when placed onto...(am i right?)
The SDRAM_image.bin contains some non-localizable output strings. I made a copy of the strings (see appendix).
Attached Files
File Type: zip SDRAM_image.bin.strings.txt.zip (37.1 KB, 30 views)

Theoretically - maybe ;-)
Would be really cool if it would work out that way. A rockbox port with video plugins from the original Meizu fw.

Well, it depends on the kernel. When building a new linux kernel, then a lot of stuff has to be re-developed. When using the existing kernel, then we maybe just plug-in our new stuff, which is easier, I guess. Let's see what our Rockbox developer will say about this. I may compile some C code, but I'm not an assembler crack.

What you want is an understanding of ARM opcodes:

Well, the code doesn't seem to be protected. Now we should try to compile the rockbox source to ARMB. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but you'll need to identify the RAM address, Flash address, MP3 chip address, screen address and so on. Basically, probe around.

My Meizu
has anyone tried to build an update from the source yet, so we can install it,
or is there still an obstacle before we can do that?

it looks like a good source of information, if it is the exact same type of processor that is used in the m6 you should be good to go!
