My Meizu
update

From the last update, not had more updates owed on that Meizu was centring completely on the M8 and on the M9. To ask Meizu to liberate the firmware?

This way the project that I begin and apparently he is dead, To re-live through the project again.

Like that many users of the M6 and the M3 we can keep on enjoying.

As I know, M6 fw isn't a Meizu product. This fw is a outsourced by other developers, and strangely looks like a Sansa Clip or Ritmix RF-9800 fw. Maybe somebody, who knows English better than me, mail to MEIZU and ask they why fw (or hardware specs, necessary for RockBox) don't be liberated?

^ What's your source for that? Meizu has software engineers in-house for development...

I decide this because I use Sansa Clip and M6SL and RF-9800 and they have simply navigation and menu structure, and translation (some translate mistakes are identical).

No it doesn't work yet.

Yes I know, but I can't help that.

The biggest problem IMO is that it will be quite hard to make the
flash file system to work.
Another problem is that the display does not work properly yet for the
M6SP (and not working at all for the M6SL). I think this may be caused
by some conflict of using the NOR flash ROM together with the display.
The simple bootloader code we have now runs from NOR flash and seems
unable to activate the display and keep running at the same time.

I do have an idea for a quick hack to make rockbox at least temporary
(but without filesystem support). I could probably use the device
firmware update mode to upload the rockbox executable to DRAM memory
and run it from there. This is still not much use but could help in
getting (for example) button readout, RTC, battery readout to work.

Kind regards,
Bertrik

My Meizu
Thanks for the information vcf.

About that liberate thing,
If someone like to forward a request to liberate some specs I really think posting it inside the Meizu forum (english) would be a better idea. By doing, I think it's very likely they will see it. I've had a good contact with one of the supporters/mods but very likely it's the same persons your find in that forum and those who answering to your email.
Also if some of our Chinese members would like to help here, one could make an request inside the BBS forum as well. Just a thought.

If no one does, I'm glad to help forwarding it if needed.
I would like to ask the workers on Rockbox if you looking for something special?? Then I will make sure it will be noted.

Please, did it. Or, if developers doesn't liberate FW, maybe they help to develop RockBox.
