Portable Amplifiers

I've been researching a little bit about portable amps in order to reduce the volume on miniplayer and save some power on internal battery, it doesnt matter about the AA bats im using... i have tons of them!

All portable amps out there are powered by batteries (can be rechargeables, so no such waste of money if you already have some of them :D).

i just got a Boostaroo portable amp, it's bigger than my player but, it gives me an increment of 100% of volume in exchange and three outputs to share with a couple of friends too.

It seems to be one of the cheapest (actually running for about 20~30 bucks on eBay and Amazon), but works great... i've set miniplayer' volume to 15, i just don't need more than that now

hmm i dont see the point in this

you buy a slimm small little mp3player cause you like its size etc.
then, to save internal battery life(which is strong by itself already) you drag along some extra part wich requires batteries...

so you dont save money in any way as the external amp plus bats cost way more then jsut reloading the player
you have a beautifull little player thats ultra portable which all of a sudden isnt ultraportable anymore
and you ned batteries...

How about investing in some descent in-ear earplugs? They keep the outside noise out allowing you to turn down the volume of the player significantly(with my Shure E2c anything over 20 hurts my ears) and so save battery too

on the other hand...why would you want to save battery on a player that can play music longer then the average person is awake during the day?

It is obvious that i meant when im far away from power chargers or USB ports for my player.

I do have decent headphones, it's not matter of that cuz i can get in-ear earplugs too, you didnt see my point, im taking about value added using this kind of things.

Good for you, mine was making like 5~6 hours, now im getting bit more than 9.

Its handy when yorue far away from USB or Outlets...true..

Maybe our settings are diffrent cause my meizu easely gets 12 hours of music on one charge and it should be able to do around 16 right?

huh. i use -v0 alt extreme for my encoding through lame and my m6 lasts 2 days at work (about 7-8 hours straight per day). i use it at 40/40 volume and control it through my ldm+.

btw, if you amp and set yoru base volume to 15/40, you've defeated the purpose of the amp as you've degraded so much sound quality by lowering the volume.

really? i guess the settings really do have a significant effect on battery life. i generally use my player about 4 hours a day and it last me about 4-5 days.

Hmmm You don't really degrade the sound Volume. i mean the Amp is bringing the volume up too? so its acting like the volume by adding more sound so hows it degrading??
