    Wolfram Alpha

Wolfram Alpha is a great new computational search engine that has a wide variety of capabilities, and I've found it useful as well as somewhat fun to use. You can see just some of the things that it can here:

Where did you hear this from? I saw it yesterday on Tekzilla. I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, heck I don't think I even would have remembered if you had not posted it...

im sorry, but i wasnt that impressed by the first version of wolphram alpha. alot of the things i searched for came up with this 2001:A Space Oddesey type message saying that they hadnt found the search. its strange that the site can find certain footballers and not others, shouldnt they all be in there at once? room for improvement

It's still pretty early in development, so it's not quite complete. It's not a traditional search engine, in the sense that it doesn't quite search for information, it has information and if not, will calculate it. These are the things that it can do:

For anything else other than the examples above, Wikipedia and Google are the way to go.

One of the places where it really shines is in comparisons in understandable numbers. Check the following searches out:
