YP-P2 vs iPod touch

Can you guys give me some advice about getting a new player?

I'd like to get an iPod touch, but 1 in 4 people in my school now have one, which is a group which I really don't want to suck up to and join. The Wi-Fi and apps is all that's really tempting me to get one.

The Samsung P2 can make phone calls via Bluetooth using another phone, and will also answer calls. The player is designed for media, and it's more compact as well. It also supports .ogg, which is a nice option.

So what do you think? Should I fall in to Apple or should I keep being different?

I would get the ipod touch 2G or the COWON S9.

I chose the touch 2G because of wifi, apps and sound quality. The GUI is pretty intuitive and the sound will not disappoint. (Just dont use any EQ with ipods, they are known to distort your music unless you normalise all your music to a lower level).

COWON S9 would get my vote if you like sound enhancements, but other than that, the S9 really has nothing more to offer over the Touch 2G. Touch 2G has an extremely clean headphone output for an DAP, and this has won me over since I use a lot of high end audio gear. Even if you decide you want sound enhancements, its not GG with the Touch 2G as you can get an LOD and output it to a ultra portable amp with bass boost or what not, and get your ideal sound.

Ive not tried the samsung, but the interface looks a bit outdated and I've no idea about the sound quality but you may need some more research into the P2.

This probably wont help at all, but I've always wanted to get the S5. Pretty unique if you ask me.

But hrm...do you need to get a player asap? If not, I would wait a little to see what 2009 brings us.

Not ASAP, more like March of this year. I just need to make a decision so I can save up.

If money is no object, get the iPod Touch 2G. Maybe you should wait until they come out with the 2G Jailbreak. If you really care about SQ, then go with a Cowon player. I also really liked the iRiver Clix, I was choosing either a Clix or the M6, and the M6 won me over because of the really attractive price. Just out of curiosity, why do you want a new player?

It also has FM Radio and *real* Bluetooth.

I would wait to see what the 'Sony Touch' brings us...I have a good feeling about it...

The M6 is great for music, but the lack of a decent sized screen for video annoys me, since most of my videos are in wide-screen, or anamorphic wide-screen even, so the two black bars on top and bottom take about half of the screen.

Also, I only have the 4GB version, I'd like to take my entire music library to go with 8-16GB, 16GB on the iPod for Apps.

I would also like to have a touchscreen, as navigation is far more intuitive and easier to use for me. Something with a built-in speaker would be nice, just to share music/videos on the go.

i hate to say it but, iPod Touch. and you wont be sucking up to them anyway...
