Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIf you really want a bargain, try finding a first-gen touch somewhere. It's jailbreakable and the 16 gig version seems to be the same price at some places as the 8gig second gen. This of course lasts until a sold out their last stock for it.
Of course, you will miss volume buttons and a "speaker", but you might find a good deal :DZTE Blade

Well, it's Google, not Apple.
Wait, wait, how can the 8GB Touch only hold 1750 songs? I remember that for a 128kbps, 4 minute mp3 file, you could get around 500 songs per GB. The nano lists as being able to hold 2000 songs.
Oh yeah, is the Genius playlist creator that Apple's been boasting about useful/accurate at all?
EDIT: Never mind, the firmware is probably using up that space.Last edited by JkPwNsTeR; 10-18-2008 at 02:23 PM.

Didn't they advertise the 4GB holding up to 1000 songs? The OS on the iPhone takes up 700MB, not sure how much it is on the iPod Touch.

Theoretically you can, visite Apple. Or you can get it from eBay.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

In order to see how great meizu has become, you of course need some people on your side with an apple device
Then you get to compare!

Sony MZ-NH1 > Headroom Total Bithead > Grado Labs PS-1

Ok so after playing around for perhaps a day or two now I've noticed some really interesting things:
1. You dont need to set the clock or the date. As soon as the ipod connects to your pc the ipod syncs with your computers time/date (I think this is how it works)
2. Album art implementation in itunes is a piece of sh!t. No seriously, if you use itunes to add album art for your music, your in for hours of troubleshooting. Best to embed album art using some other software.
3. Itunes is a piece of sh!t
4. Itunes is a piece of ....
5. Sound quality wise, it has improved significantly over the last ipod i ever listened to (pre 5.5G era)
6. GUI is highly intuitive and touch screen quite fun, some people prefer tactile response, I guess the mileage varies there
7. Compared to the Meizu M6 T1, the ipod touch 2g sound quality is "better" It sounds flatter across the spectrum, with one important thing. The noisefloor is very very minimal. In most IEMs you can't even notice the hiss. Note that the T1 used the philips audio chip and the itouch 2g uses god knows what. (Cirrus perhaps?) Bass is also in good quantity without eq on the ipod, this is somewhat pleasing.
8. I need to buy a line out cable with the apple authentication chip?
All in all, quite a nice device to use, lets see if the M7 can improve upon it.

8GB iAudio 7 > Not in use

Yeah, the Authentication chip is a pain in the A**. Although Album Art implementation works extremely well for me. I have a program to import album art manually into iTunes if you want it. It's a lot easier with this program then going to google, and getting low-res album art, and doing it over and over again. This program finds it automatically, and all you have to do is click "Import to tracks selected".

The iPod touch is quite nice, I like the touchscreen, but the proprietary junk and sky-high prices for brand name accessories is unacceptable.
Wait what? lol it's only 29AUD more than your earbuds. Good choice though, they made it [the earbuds] into PopSci's best inventions of the year.

That's why you buy 3rd party accessories for everything except TV Out cables.

No actually the Shure SE530 costs a lot more than the ipod touch

And madman, are you finding the treble to be slightly lacking on the itouch 2g without eq? Compared to my other portable sources, this seems to be the case, or perhaps i'm just used to things that actually had EQ'd treble XD. I think I need to compare with my RME when I have a lot more time......Last edited by Blackstar; 11-11-2008 at 01:02 AM.
