[EDIT]: And not to mention a couple dozen programs?

Anyways, Vista is a pretty decent operating system. I'll live with it, and many improvements I find nice, but many of my old programs don't work with it (somewhat my fault for liking legacy DOS, and 95 games XD). I'd probably find my computer faster if I downgraded to XP, but I don't want to spend $100 for a license and it's already been in use for almost half a year. I still find my Vista desktop faster than my XP desktop, probably because the specs have a HUGE gap.

    My old Acer desktop's specs:

    2.8Ghz Celeron Processor
    Intel GMA 64MB Video Card
    768MB RAM (Added 512MB stick)
    160GB HD
    19" Monitor

    My newer Acer's specs:

    2.4Ghz*4 (9.6Ghz) Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
1268MB Sappire ATI 2600 HD XT (Upgrade)
    2GB RAM
    320GB HD
    22" Monitor

Yes, I didn't include some specs, but the fundamentals are often enough.
That is a nice Desktop. Wish I had one as powerful. I'm stuck with a 1.6Ghz Desktop and a 133Mhz laptop from who knows how long ago. You should upgrade the ram though. Has it been overclocked? Intel chips are great for overclocking.

I do like the Vista eye candy, Indexing, organization, and Readyboost, but I hate the resource hog, and functionality problems it has with older programs.

Meh, I like to keep the stability of my computer. True, Intel chips are good for overclocking, but only because Intel never clocks them correctly. AMD chips aren't good for overclocking, because they're already clocked at their full potential.

You can up the voltage on the processor to keep your stability.

Meh, my CPU fan will go crazy. Plus, I'm using a proprietary BIOS that won't let me change the overclocking settings... There is no option.

Have you had good luck with those Acers? I always thought that Acers were junk. What games do you play with that 2600XT? It's not better than a 512MB 7950GT, is it?

Acers are probably the best computer brand in Canada, if all you really count on is the price to performance ratio. I have an older one bought in 2005, and it hasn't had any hardware issues. Neither did I for the new one I bought. I play Crysis on my 2600XT HD, WolfTeam at full settings, Combat Arms AFS, and mostly shooters. Also do quite a bit of graphics work so it come in handy.

Crysis at full settings on a 2600XT? I have a ati radeon HD3870 x2 and that only just barely plays Crysis at maximum details @ ~30fps.

Too good. I never knew the 2600XT was such a powerful card.

I was working on trying to run Windows 95 on our M8s, but CyDosBox just kept crashing! I had everything right to boot Windows 95 automatically. It worked on my Wii (great homebrew device too ) Then I found another way... But it was in Russian and not even a little HW acceleration

I guess itīs easier for you to run a linux on the wii?

Yes, Wii is PowerPC based. Even tough the OS mostly runs smooth (playing Patience with the Wii remote is fun ), the loading times are very long (about 5-10 min. for Windows 95). I run a lot of Homebrew on my Wii. Some free games are even better than some commercial games
