iPhone is a great product, but please don't forget monthly charges involved when comparing with other phones.
$39.99 monthly for the basic plan and at least $30 monthly for data. That's a total of $69.99 monthly, which adds up. During the two year contract, you'll end up not paying $199, but $1878.76 (69.99x24+199) for your new iPhone. I don't think Apple makes money if they sell the iPhone for $199.
Sure, one can argue that you get to make calls for that amount, but the plans are still overpriced. If you subtract your monthly cellphone bill over a two year period from $1878.76, the average user will still end up paying around a grand.
Also, this time, it won't be possible to buy one for $199, take it home and then unlock anymore as they've learned their lesson and activate the phones in store.
So please, don't say the new iPhone costs $199 when comparing with other phones sold unlocked.
