But the PSP has a 4.3" 480x272 LCD, this has a 3" 320x240 LCD. That's the same resolution as the 2.5" iPod video 5G. The PSP supports any sized Memory Stick Pro Duo, which are up to 8GB, while this supports a maximum of 4GB. It has Wi-Fi and is not nearly as ugly.

well....480x272 on a 4.3 inch screen is not much better than 320x240 on a 3 inch screen in terms of DPI. The archos 605 and the cowon A3/Q5 both have 4.3 inch screens at 800x480 displays so the psp display is not great by any means. The SmartQ T5 now accepts SDHC cards too. But again I think it is an unfair comparison. The Psp is a high end portable games console manafactured by one of the largest tech companies in the world. The SmartQ is a portable media player made by a very small chinese company with a miniscule budget for product research and development when compared to a giant like sony. The T5 costs a lot less and is a different type of product. It's like comparing Meizu to Microsoft at making software, it does not make sense. Everyone knows the majority of chinese media players cannot compare to the best media playing devices made by huge western/japenese/south korean tech companies. However they are a lot cheaper and do offer different things (losless codec support, open source codecs, emulators etc). If someone was in the game for a cheap chinese player that performs well, I would recommend the T5. If they wanted a high end portable games console I would recommend the psp. But if they wanted a cheap media player I would not recommend the psp and if they wanted a high end games console I would not recomend the T5. Different products for different consumers with different needs. But again I do think the psp is a nice device too.

The GUI and the features are looking good. But the device doesn't. I would get it if it was, 1. cheap, 2. Runs GBA(pokemon is da shiz) in full speed, and has a good battery life for playing emu's etc.

well it is not a great looking device and it is a little bulky, but in the flesh I think it looks ok, the build quality is better than most chinese players and the looks have definitely grown on me. The New GUI is very nice. Not every game runs on the GBA emulator perfectly but updates are frequent and certain games run very well. Mario kart and aladdin run perfectly at full speed. I have only tried a few more, and of course you have nes, snes, & neo geo too. SmartQ rate the video battery at 7-8 hrs, obviously I don't think it is as long as that, but it is still very good nevertheless, particularly considering most chinese device batteries are terrible. The battery has a high capacity of 2300mah and I have found it too be very good for a combination of music-games and video and also for extended video watching and game playing on their own.

heres a video of the new firmware in action:
