I am an ex-att employee and my old employee code worked for my discount. Hence I paid $350.
The latest Version is 1.1.4.
Yes you can send SMS to someone that is not in your address book.
There are morw than 500 apps for the phone.. and other SMS apps you can use.
I never owned an Apple product before but I am looking at buying an Ibook now. Thanks to these Chinese phones I would have never thought of the Iphone.

There are also many good apps for Windows CE, that are free, unlike all of the Apple SDK.

I'm wondering whether existing apps will be such a good foundation. I mean, are they optimalised to use on a 720x480 screen? Biggest WinMo device i've seen lying around has 640x480, which is not the same as WinCE.

Point is there are so many different set-ups from devices that use WinCE. Perhaps ms has thought up of something i'm overseeing, but a 320x240 program on the m8-screen looks untouchable to me (litterally).

There are only 2 devices that run the Apple apps, which have the same screen, same cpu etc. Them wanting to make money out just about everything is another subject. Anyway, good apps for the m8 would have to be made from scratch as well, in my opinion.

I think the HiPhone looks too cloney btw. Walking around with it just looks a bit....well

I don't like the way the SDK thing is going right now but as of now out of the ~50 apps I've tried on my iPhone, only 2 or 3 were shareware or wanted me to pay. I'm hoping that once the app store launches it's hacked, and people (especially those running on non-AT&T networks like me) will be able to essentially pirate them.

iPhone's ease of use and functionality is unparalleled by any other phone on the market right now IMO, and Meizu will have a tough time keeping up. That said I still can't wait for the m8 and am still planning to buy one. WindowsCE apps are fine too

BUMP in the hopes that no one acually buys this POS phone. It really was an awesome waste of time and money. The features on the videos are there, but support for things like, ohhh say VBR mp3s, .jpgs larger than 640x480, and videos longer than ~3 mins just arent there. Needless to say the menus suck. The lower res screen is hard to read. And the keyboard is laid out in such a way that you're always hitting the wrong key. It doesnt flip sideways like the iPhone. And if you're in the US, good fucking luck making a service like EDGE work on it to use the internet/email features. Also, enjoy diminished signal strength, dropped calls, short battery life, and an unusually hot charger with the potential to burn down your house.

DONT. BUY. THIS. PHONE.

Thats all :D
