[Review] HiPhone - A clone worth its name

Well actually this is not really the case here. Sure it just never gets as good as the original but still it doesn't look bad like the P168. (That's real eyecancer in my opinion!)

Well, after nearly buying one of these hiphones before Tangmu's review, i was a bit shocked at the actual interface behind the front screen.... not very polished at all.

Coming from a WM environment where everything on the phones can be altered, i was very disappointed in this lact of alteration on the hiphone especially when the M888 allowed this...

so i bit the bullet and have just ordered a real iphone... should be here on monday..... Thanks alot Tangmu, you saved me making a big mistake buying an inferiour (don't know if thats spelt right) product which i would have been disappointed with. plus the iphone i got was a real bargain.... under £200 unlocked on latest firmware.....

I'll watch this space for the M8 if it does ever come out and may purchase one and give the wife the iphone.....

Wise choice. And under 200 quid? Where? that's a tempting price..


And to tangmu: If I'm correct with the HiPhone you cannot order the mp3s by artist or album? Cos that is a massive turn-off for me.
One more thing tangmu: your english: it's very good. I have this friend who came from germany to live in the Uk for 4 months and his was good too, how do you guys do it?

Yeah I think that's really the sad truth. Those clones are not for you if you're very serious about music. In fact clones are not even very popular in China. A Chinese friend told me he prefers to buy e.g. an original "Anycall" phone with good MP3 / MP4 player instead of a clone that maybe looks cool but has some disadvantages when you want to use it as a mediaplayer. On the other hand side a lot of people just look at those features as a nice "side-effect" and I think for those this phone makes quite some sense.

About my English: Actually I really think that it's not very good as I don't have a lot of opportunities to excercise. I also got some pretty rude comments on YouTube but I guess that's just "normal" these days?!

Thanks for your nice words however. I just learned it at school. I really hope I will have some chance in the future to maybe study for a while in the UK and try to get rid of my accent.

I'm currently doing my plans but it's not very easy to say just yet cause I have a lot of other stuff to take care of atm. Would you be interested in meeting there?

Don't worry about youtube - its is plagued by immature children, that watch every video and any defect or anything at all they can pick up on they will start an argument, for no apparent reason. I bet they wouldn't go round starting arguments if they could see the person face to face - most of them must be like 12 years old!

no unfortunaly i can't but if i could i was yet in hannover drinking a beer with you (even if i don't like beer) i just want to know the day exactly because i'm really impatient to discover the m8's final design and specifications

So I got my Hiphone today... But how do i change it to imput with the onscreen keyboard? for some reason it still gives me a number pad when I goto text..

Hi, I've got one of these HiPhones and there is one thing I want to ask you - when I make a call I cannot turn on the loudspeaker. The loudspeaker icon is grayed out and is not active. Do you know how I can turn on the loudspeaker during a call?

the freespeaker function is grayed out-no functioning yet possible - - i was also disappointed by this . . .

Software is really poor, back to my n80!
If anyone wants a good deal on this phone, mines up on EBAY!

The tech support from where I bought this phone said that the loudspeaker function does not work because of a software bug. A new software is being in development for the HiPhone but it can only be reflashed in the factory in China.

where did u buy- cool u do have tech support -get in contact with them agian they should give us the adress etc . . - we flash for ourselves - -softwarebug grrrr-
