Are you an Anti-iPoder? =)

I reckon there must be some anti-iPoders (like me ^^) around here! so tell us why you finally pull yourself out from the stream~

Personally I owned several iPod BEFORE (4-G iPod, iPod mini, iPod U2 and iPod nano... I know I was so silly of buying so many junk...)

These are the main reason for me to finally become an anti-ipoder:

1. no FM Radio (and seems it will keep this nasty tradition forever, then bye-bye ipod!!!)

2. brittle exterior (yeah, this makes ipod cases manufactories happy, but sorry my wallet just reject!)

3. iTunes (it's not a bad software, but I just love daps with MTP)

4. battery (last about 3 hours... finally been improved lately)

5. earphone (turn up to maximum volume, what you hear?!!! really don't know what Steve Jobs is thinking, bundle ipod with earphone worth $1 that can permanently damage your audition... been replaced to a new one lately)

I think that's enough reason for me to finally become an anti-ipoder!

So how about you?

well... i wouldn't say that i'm anti-ipod, it's just that i don't want to own one. my reasons:

1.) it seems like EVERYONE has an ipod. i don't like going with the flow too much. this is my primary reason
2.) no FM radio. even if i rarely use it, it's still great to have the option to listen to the radio if i want to
3.)UMS. ipod needs itunes and other DAPs are MTP.
4.)no video. (the nano, at least) not that i'm a hard core portable video viewer, but it's really cool to have a few episodes in your DAP sometimes. :D

ipod video is not an option coz it's HUGE compare to the miniplayer. plus, the capacity of 30, 60 GB is way more than i need. the 4GB is just right for me.

I'm an anti-ipod too :D
There are several things i have about it
- It's everywhere
- Everybody has it (any flavor, doesn't matter)
- Such a waste of space: nano's screen is barely noticeable, wasting almost all the player's usable front space and ipod video is HUGE, you can even thing about getting a backpack just to carry it!
- I dont like to have same things everyone has.
- In Costa Rica, where i live, you cannot find more than ipods, chinese no name usb memory-mp3 players and sansas

Well, so many ppl asked me which model my ipod is when they see my meizu!!! LOL

THEN when i show them what miniplayer is capable to do, they stop saying that is an ipod wannabe...

Personally I'm not particulalry anti iPod, but I am anti DRM and anti high prices.

Apple is tied into DMR with a proprietory format and there is not way I'm gonna support either of those.

Apple is also keeping prices uneccessarily high (99c should be more like 30c imho), I have no plans to add to the excessive millions they make through iTunes.

I've been looking for a long time for a viable alternative (I do actually believe the iPod is a very good device) and then the Meizu came to my attention.

I really hope it gets the mega sales it deserves as it is a very impressive piece of kit.

i dont like ipods for the following reasons:
1. screen too small
2. cannot adjust skins
3. everyone has it, and i dont know why the major companies wanna bundle with ipod (eg bedheads and even shoes now? nike...)
4. the earphones are down-to-earth crap as hell
5. physical size and screen do not match (unlike meizu, perfect!)
6. heaps more minor reasons (eg short battery, only compatible with itunes to upload music)

Australia's leading consumer magazine CHOICE included the iPod in it's Top 10 Shonky's Awards for 2006:

The CHOICE iSHONK for Dual-level Shonkyness

Goes to the…

APPLE iPod
(CHOICE Computer, Sep/Oct 2005, and CHOICE, July 2006)
An iPod is a significant investment, so you don’t want your APPLE to be a lemon. And if there is something wrong with it, you’d expect an easy repair and warranty service. Podluck.

Level 1. Several readers complained about cracked screens, faulty batteries and problems with sound reproduction.

Level 2. APPLE doesn’t allow retailers to handle complaints under warranty (which is their obligation under Fair Trading laws) — you have to send your faulty iPod to APPLE yourself via Australia Post. And if they decide the fault isn’t covered by the warranty, you’ll have to foot the entire bill.

Let the iWankers have their iDuds.

Portable standard storage with a an MP3 player / video front end appeals to the geek in me. It's exactly the kind of toy I want to own. If I weren't technically savvy, an iPod would be the way to go, and I'd use Apple's media service to buy songs.

However, given that I am a programmer type, restricting my access to the device and forcing the use of bloatware is simply flying in the face of reality; it's just not necessary.
