OK I have received my ex082 and as promised here is what I think of it:
It is pretty much the same as Creative EP-630, with a unique design viewable from photo above. It does not however form a perfect seal with the ear, which means it is not totally noise cancellation - with that said, it can be a good or a bad thing, depending on how you view it.
It is bad if you want total sound isolation, but it is also good if you still want to be able to chat to someone or listen out for stuff around you that is happening. I personally used to love total sound isolation, but got tired of taking my earphones out everytime my friend tries to speak to me. So I like these earphones in that matter. The treble is much crisper then the EP-630 though, and the bass not as loud and somewhat-too-much compared to EP-630 either.
These earphones are reasonable for the price I got them for ($22 AUD from ebay) but these ARE the default headphones for the new Sony MP3s, so that might raise some eyebrows. All in all, a good earphone to replace my broken EP-630
7.3 out of 10 given to the Sony MDR-EX082.
