Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI play rugby for a team called Royals and we have a song which is usally sung on a bus on the way back from a game while drinking copious amounts of beer.
In the song is the line:
I want to be a Royals Ranger, I want to live a life of danger.
(I'm sure this is from some other song from somewhere else but that is where I know it from)
About 8 years ago, my hotmail account died from an overkill of spam so used Royals_ranger as a new email address and user name.I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

BobbyQ is an abbreviation of Bobby Quine, a character in the short story "burning chrome" from William Gibson, one of the originators of cyberpunk.

I was ten and probably mistyped (t is next to y on the qwerty) my surname, which is Ptak (and means... a bird), and came up with Pytak. I've instantly liked it because it's original, easy to pronounce, easy to remember and multilingual (means nothing, that is).

Oh god, this isn't good at all. Now every time I see one of JkPwNsTeR's posts, I think of Porn. Why did you have to jam that into my head?

Mine is a shortening of "Villa Straylight" which is a fictional place in one of my favourite books of all time: Neuromancer by William Gibson. I adopted it many years ago as it tied with what was the start of my 'career' as a theatrical lighting tech.
Geeky, I know......

Thanked 14 Times in 10 PostsMy dad created a nicknaming system for our family. Works for every name, pick all the consonants in your name till the first vowel (no rules for starting with a vowel, i think you are inelegible!
) and follow it with absi. We had Mabsi, Stabsi, Babsi and Rabsi in our family. I once had it rejected on some website. Club Penguin I think, this was a long time back, must have been about 10-11. Rabsi1 has since stuck, although I doubt many websites anywhere else have Rabsi taken.
