What To Buy PS3 OR X BOX 360.

Guys I just cant seem to decide.A next gen console is on the cards but which one.
Both to me have pros and cons, loading times, cost, failure rates, price of games.
I really fancy the 360 but the red rings of death deter me.PS 3 looks more upmarket but do i really want to change all my 300plus dvds into blue ray discs and as for card slots i can do that on my laptop, and it looks complicated to set up on the internet.
In the perfect world i would have both but that aint gonna happen.one of the above will take a lot off begging and pleading with the wife.the last option i can see is to wait out till christmas and see how the prices are then.
Theres allready rumours of another pricedrop.Help needed guys. Also tips on how to sweet talk the wife would be very usefull.THANX.

Wait for the new chips to come out for the 360, then get it. (There should not be any red ring of death with the new chip)

360 has a lot more games, the graphics are a little bit worse than the PS3, but the PS3 has framerate problems so review-sites often vote a bit better graphicly (by like 0.2) on the 360 version of the game that is out for both PS3 and 360.

I wouldn't get a Xbox 360 before the new chips. That's just not smart.

A PS3 isn't worth the money at all, even if the price goes down to $500 for the 80Gb version. Not many good games, framerate problems. Devlopers have problems to code games for the PS3 because of the Cell Processor and Bluray. That makes a lot games cappier than they should be, both gameplay wise and graphicly. The PS3 loses a lot more exclusives to the 360 and Wii because of it's selling rate, it's an failure compared to the PS2 which was a succes and a good console.

You should consider a Wii. If you get a 360, you can also get a Wii and the price will be like same as the PS3.

Ofcourse the Wii has worse graphics, although some games like Mario Galaxy looks better than some Xbox 360 games. Wii is really fun to play with friends, family and single player. Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 3, Zelda TP, Excite Truck, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Elebits, Super Paper Mario, Mercury Meltdown Revolution and SSX Blur are some really good single player games. The Wiimote is revolutionary, and will make the the Wii console winner this generation (It has alllredy outsold 360 and ps3) and as you can see, Wii is my favourite console this gen.

If you are "a hardcore gamer" then you should prolly go for the 360 when new chips come out or wait till Sony drops PS3s price to like $400, they should drop it, because noone is buying PS3s. It sells as much as the GameCube did or something (which was a big failure compared to previous Nintendo consoles)

Hi Rossi46,

Well, it depends on what type of games you want to play. For instance, I saw my brother-in-law play "Gears of War" on his 60" HDTV and I started drooling. Not only did I buy a 360 and GOW, but shelled out $2000 bucks and bought a HDTV. I can't get enough of that game ... simply awesome.

Maybe GOW is not your type of game, and you like some game that is exclusive to PS3.

Another thing is that PS3 is going to drop another 100 bucks for Christmas (at least that is the rumor). If so, you get a awesome console AND a blu-ray player for pretty much the same price as a 360.

With the 360, you have to buy a seperate HD-DVD drive.

As far as the disc-scratching and Red Ring of Death goes ... I haven't had any problems. Most people that get disc scratching problems have their unit in the vertical position. I have it placed horizontally and haven't had any problems. The console gets really hot and pumps out enough heat from the rear fan to cook an egg ... but I haven't had the red ring problem (knock on wood!)

360 also has a far better and much more active LIVE community. So if you want to play multiplayer games online with other players (which is the most fun) get the 360.

my 2 cents.

I agree with you for the most part, but it IS a gaming console, not an HD-DVD player. If they included the drive it would be more expensive and having it separate gives the consumer a cheap option to get HD movies.

360

the playstation 3 doesnt have much extra to offer. The blu ray drive is not used much by most users as it rquires a full HD tv to actually enjoy it
besides that, it will be another 4 years or more before any "next gen"format will get a descent foothold and marketshare...

the average consumer couldn't care less at the moment and is totally happy with their DVD players which cost 40 bucks

so... id say dont shell out for a blu ray you probably wont use and go for the one with the better games and online options

or a WII :P

We can all agree that 360 or Wii are worth getting at the moment. Or why not both? ^^

Stevemb93, I just don't want to recommend people to buy a console that can just die in some weeks.(or not, or in some years...you know what I mean) My friend is waiting for the new chips to come out. It's smarter to buy a 360 when the new chips will come out. Btw, why don't I like the 360 so much? Yes the graphics are amazing, it has many games and good live... but I'm just tierd of good graphics and stuff, I want something newer...that makes games a lot more fun...that's why I love the Wii.
