Maybe it's ugly... but more than that is really limited!
it's a 2" screen with a resolution of 320x240 only for Quicktime videos

Simply is a copy of Chinese players

Possibly G4 will come with FM tuner

I hope, you 're not meaning corporations in general, because that would be a pretty short sighted critique of capitalism.

these ipods support mp4-videos (not only quicktime) with h.264-codecs and aac-audio which yields substantially smaller files with better quality!
why is it that other manufacturers (even samsung, creative or cowon) only support avi and/or wmv-containers without h.264-codec on their
    flash-based players?
3.5''-inch-screen with 480x320 on the ipod touch is very attractive and this may be my first purchase from apple.
but the 2''-inch-screen of the nano is actually a step backwards.
apple should have opted for longer-lasting batteries just like cowon did with d2 and support for divx/xvid-avis for compatibility.

The latest iPod Nanos are not worth the money, compared to the miniPlayer that is.

The classic and the touch, on the other hand, are more attractive (bigger gigs for the classic, multitouch for the ..um. touch). Come to think about it, why doesn't Meizu produce a 40gb+ hard-drive-based player?

Indeed I did forget Mp4 support... all this formats are among the what Apple usually have under their control with its sick obsession for copyrights. About AAC of better quality... in this point... it will always be found honest users claiming that AAC is better than MP3 or OGG better of both or whatever... these are lossy formats then its quality is a matter of own preferences and tastes. That not apply to APE or FLAC which are truly lossless formats... do you imagine Apple supporting any of these?

When you said that 3.5" is very attractive, does this mean that you would pay US$300/US$400 for 8G/16G?... Look at this: EPSON P2000 screen 3.8" 40G for US$ 250.- no touch screen, Archos 404 screen 3.5" 16 millions colours 30G US$ 280. just as an example. Archos is among the most expensive Chinese products.

Concerning touch screen... PLEASE!! no touch screen!!!... if you use your fingers screen will always be dirty (users of black M3 knows how become an obsession to keep buttons area clean!)... if a stick is used... gosh!... screen always ends with annoying scratches... or loosing the damn pen. I told this by my experiences of long time with my iPAQ... I hate how it looks my scratched iPAQ!!!!

Yea. The Meizu M7/SE should support mp4-videos with h.264-codecs and aac-audio. That would be awesome.

If you want the iPod Touch, then go for the iPhone. It's just $100 more. Getting and iPod Touch is kinda not smart. iPhone > iPod Touch.

i would opt for the iphone but who knows when it will be actually available in europe (maybe december).
availability is obviously a major problem with apple-products.

Yeah, but what if you only want a Touchscreen Mp3 player, and do not wish to buy a M8. For the iPhone, you have to have a subscription to Cingular(The New AT&T) otherwise it won't work.

Yes i agree these are the ugliest things apple have released. Finally someone else says it. All of my friends like the new design, but then again they have all jumped on the ipod bandwagon

in reality the front looks quite nice. but it is almost to thin and
does not allow for a firm grip because of the (cheap-looking)
    polished stainless-steel back.
navigation is straightforward and video-playback excellent (smooth, excellent quality, no artifacts or stuttering).
the screen is not correctly aligned to the case and this is obviously
    a widesprad manufacturing flaw.
h.264-codec is really the best video-codec thus far and i hope other companys will use it as well.
a 140-minutes-movie like casino royale takes less than 285 MB at 320x240
with quality-based encoding and quality is excellent.
i'm stunned how excellent videos look on so small a screen
