Bamboo ADzero phone shoots in - Pocket-lint

I bet it feels great in the hand, and I like the circular flash. I wonder how much it's going to be!

    Rootable perhaps? (sorry...)

Seriously though, I think it's the best looking device I've seen in a long time.

The ADzero phone does look awesome, and so does the m9 in that wooden case! Has anyone got the m9 case from taobao?? Would love to see some user photos...

There's a couple of companies who i'm keeping an eye on regarding my next smartphone... Lumigon, ADzero, sony, verzo (if they survive the awful kinzo), xiaomi, and of course meizu. It's going to be interesting to see who gets the specsrice ratio right this year...

now this is something I really like.
But I wonder how the hardware fits in such a case. I always thought that wood cases would need pretty thick wall thickness to be robust!
But I guess this layer of bamboo is very thin and is just kind of glued to the normal back without any air under it. And I guess you cant remove the back cover, because it would be very easy to break. If this thing hits the market, Kieron-Scoot Woodhouse (the 23 y.o. british designer) will be rich.
Looks I have to concider some others than meizu.

    edit:
I just read that it is stated to be half as heavy as the iphone. If that is true, the hole chassis is made of bamboo and not just a layer on the back. But I wonder how they attach the board with all the hardware on to the wood...with glue? pretty awesome! They say it will be available in UK, so it will be easy to byu for us EU folks.
The LED flash is stated to be very special, cause it is located around the camera itself. pretty good visible on this picture:

Yes, I'll certainly be keeping an eye on it. The wooden case for the M9 looks like it makes the package rather bulky, though still rather pretty. I suppose bamboo was chosen because of it's high tensile strength - it's been used in rather expensive bicycle frames for some time now. It's also one of the most sustainable crops on the planet, far more eco-friendly than plastics.

I hope we see more electronics exploring the use of such materials, if you look at the early televisions say, they were beautifully crafted items of household furniture, rather than the nasty things we have today.

It comes down to how 'cool' is defined, I choose the definition equating to honest, IE not trying to appear to be something other than what it is, whilst also not trying too hard. Eg. Silver/Chromed plastic rather than actual metal. So for me, this phone looks very cool

I just hope that the design doesn't get compromised during the manufacturing process.

Yes the M9 with it's new wooden look gets bulky, because it is a somehow back cover. The wood has to be much inegrated in the whole manufactoring process. So that it get's the chassis for all hardware components.
I really hope so too that i will not get changed because of hardware issues. I guess the heating problem will be gone with bamboo, because wood is a very good isolator.
