    Haier AOL WIFI PMP

Is someone hearded news about this Linux-OS WiFi portable media player ? It looks nice, with great price and features (QVGA LCD screen, 30GB of internal memory and Bluetooth for A2DP headphones; MPEG-4, AVI, WMV 7/8/9 and H.264 for video; PlaysForSure WMA files, AACPlus, AACPlus Enhanced, WAV, and MP3 for audio; OTA capable; trackpad control...) ! It’s coming out this Q2 and is priced at $249.

I have seen this before and it looks very promising. Obviously being AOL branded something is bound to go wrong, most likely on the software side, but the hardware specs look impressive.

What are those things sticking out on the sides, and what purpose might
    they serve?

I know, I was tracking this thing for months. I wanted one of these and a Meizu 16GB M8. The thing looks sweet with its steel brushed paint job.

That's because it's being held by a stand. The player is a rounded rectangle.
