M3 (New?) problem with changing the language?

Maybe I am just too stupid.

I have got a problem with changing the language from default chinese to english after a firmware-update with the M3.
This is what I do without success:

- I turn on the M3
- Press M
- Scroll down to the second line from below and press <>
- Scroll down to the fourth line from below and press <> again - four lines appear, the first two in chinese - the third says "english"
- When I press <> again nothing happens. Even after restarting my M3 I still have everything in chinese

I have tried this with several official versions of the firmware.

What do I do wrong? Could anyone please help me?

I think you just have to tap the middle of the controller. Just a guess, never had an M3.

Touching it softly instead of pressing it hard was the correct answer
