'hold locked shunting down' then dead

hi gents,
that's the message I got few hours ago before my M3 dead (hopefully not really).

Here is my problem;
My M3 passed though x-ray door in airport while it was switched-on with hold button.
After that silly thing, hold was locked either the position of the button.
I would say the hold was stuck on software way...You can still feel a small resistance when you change to unlock. For me it is not a hardware problem.

I managed to stop with a long long press on Play.

I was not able to get my M3 on again because the message in the title thread.

With a long press on Play and <>, I got it alive but still hold locked.
I load the T2004.6 firmware, thinking it will a be sort of reset, including the hold lock.
I got the screen 'updating resources' and just saw the message 'hold locked...' again, before the last switched-off.

Now I have this kind of flashing with nothing else (like some other M3 users).

I read few post about DFU tools, I tried it but I am not familiar with that kind of thing.
I am working under XP.
The first problem is I got error if I rename "S5L8700 Rev.1" instead of "SST39VF800.dfu"
Do we have to rename SST39VF800.dfu file in DFU folder as well?

In fact the procedure is quite different according the sources. It will help a lot if somebody really confident in the DFU tools might resume the procedure for M3. Please...

I am still full of hope because I did not really try the procedure due to my actual business trip but again a clear procedure will be very great.

Other question do you feel a magnet can help to delete/reset the memory

Meizu is great I was feeling confident to get a M8 shortly during the Olympics but since all these posts with the M3 dead with small flash, I am a bit concerned with the forthcoming IPHONE killer

Thanks a lot for your next replies.

I'm getting the same error message. "Hold locked. Shutting down"
It appears when I first turn it on.
I tried the reset and that doesn't work.
I tried updating the firmware.. that doesn't work.
It was working fine. I left it playing then walked away.
It finshed the songs and I figured it would shut off automatically, which it did but when I tried to switch it on it had this error message.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The "error" just appears when the hold slider is activated. The M3/M6 detects whether if it's on during start up, and if it is, it will stop starting to prevent you from accidentally turning on the player.

Apple's players do not have this since all of their products won't actually turn off, they'll just go to standby. They'll probably do the same thing if it does a complete shutoff.

i suppose the hold switch could be broken, and remains stuck in the locked position...
i'm not sure, but perhaps you could open the player up to fix this easely, i remember there was a guide in the forums somwhere on how to open the player easely.
i hope you can fix the problem, i never use the lock switch anyway, so for me it could just as well not have been there...

Try updating the firmware, If that doesn't work, if your brave enough, crack it open. If not, return for a replacement.

Returning for a replacement is the best choice if it's still exchangeable, since if you open the case, it voids the warranty.
