This just started happening to me recently, but about half the time when I connect my M3 to my computer the M3 doesn't recognize that it is connected to a computer. It shows that the battery is charging, but it just continues to play music. I have no idea why it does it or what might have caused it. Any suggestions?

You have to turn on your player before you connect it.

it might be that the usb cable is damaged, or not plugged in deep enough.
I get this when charging when my computer is on Stand-By, becouse there is no data, and only power sent over the cable.
This is a nice feature, becouse you can listen to music while charging...

Thank you for the quick replies. I do realize that the player must be on, and I also though that maybe the usb cable wasn't in enough, but neither of these seem to be the issue. I have no idea what it is. Half the time it connects ok, and half the time it doesn't, under the exact same conditions.

do you have the problem on different firmware versions?
that sounds like a very strange bug, but you might want to test different firmwares just to see if its firmware-related or not.

Well I have only had the problem recently with 2.004.5. It never happened before, but I have had 2.004.5 for over a month and it did not start happening until a few days ago.

i'm not sure if its firmware related or not, i used to be on 2.004.5 also, but yesterday i decided to test 2.003.2 again, and i'm very happy with it, becouse of the library update is much shorter and some other "bugs" seem to have gone...
perhaps you could try with 2.003.2 and tell us what the result is...

Try another USB port, or another computer! Maybe your usb doesn't work well. I've got only two ports on my computer, where i can use the M3...
