    Anothe M3 dead

    Hi all together

I have an Music card for a couple of weeks. Out of the blue it stopt working. Just a small flash when pressing the play button. Meizume has a lot of good ideas about this dfu tool. - I read a lot about it and tryed and tryed.

But somehow nothing is working. My computer runs Vista. I press the buttons on the music card. I can install the dfu driver. I can run the meizu dfu tool (samsung). As soon as I press the butten "download" it says:

    Option on dfu server:
    device: S5L8700 Rev 1
    Image 1: SST39VF800.dfu
    Delay 1: 1000 - 10000 (tryed many options)
    Image 2: M3.EBN
    Delay 2: 1000 - 10000 (tryed many options)

Then I press the button "Download" and then:

Failed to communicate with dfu device

I know, many people asked allready the same question. - But please save me from throwing the music card to the wall.

    Many thanks

I find it extremely weard that some Meizu units can "corrupt" themselves spontaniously.
Never heard of such things with Apple units..

dfu is really a last resort. used it once myself; if you don't know what you're doing it will look like you're giving the final blow to it personally.

anyway, i'm sure someone here knows the answer to your question.
    Welcome to Meizume btw

maybe you should wait for a couple of minutes, becouse it might be writing the firmware, even if the message sais otherwise,
if that does not work, please try with another computer (preferably with windows xp)

    hope this helps.

Many thanks for the fast reply. I came to Meizu because I needed a player for .flac. As I know Apple can not play this one.

I give this gadget anothe try but then I guess it will hit the wall.

if that does not work, have you tried soft and hard-reset ?
we would be able to help better if you could tell us what you were doing when it happend, like playing a certain file or trying to update firmware or something...

some people have reported that it sometimes works to put an old(er) firmware version on it, and then, when it works you can try updating again...

    hope this helps...

did u let go the M and power button upon pressing download? I dont think you should. also if it starts to work and the status bar looks like it freezes at enumerating. then, just wait for 2 mins then unplug the usb cable from the m3.

N.b. i dont have a m3 so im just suggesting possibilities.

Hello again. The music card was working normally before. I did not try to update firmware or so. I just was listening to music. It was a file which usually worked properly.

All my files are in flac format (ripped by EAC). At this specific day I started the music player then chose the song. After a few seconds the song restarted. Then I could not change the volume anymore. Then the screen got darker. Then the music stopped. Then the screen got black.

I tryed soft and hard resest many times. When I plug in a USB cable nothing appears not even the battery status. Finally I tryed this dfu tool. I followed the instruction on this forum.

Just now I tryed it again. - The screen "not communication ..." appeard again. Still this line "enumeration ...." appeard (but no device-name on the top). So I let my two fingers on the player for about 5 minutes.

I'll try the whole thing on a XP machine. Hopefully will work.

    Many thanks.

Yeah, XP usually has a better success rate, but in Vista, you should see it as a removable drive, and you can just drag and drop new firmware files into you player.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

Try to rename the dfu file to S5L8700 Rev 1. And also if it doesn't work, try another computer - if U can. Well, I don't think this is a standard procedure that if U have an mp3 player u have to treat it like this, but if U don't lose the hope, U will be rewarded! Please, read all threads that are related to this problem.

Hi MStieger, congrats on your reviving M3!

What do you mean by "it does not look like new anymore"? Did you open it?
