Unhappy OGG blocking my M3

I read that M3 support OGG format.
Unfortunately that's not true. Every time I try to play a ogg file my 4GB Music Card hangs, and I have to reset the machine.
I'm using firmware T 2.003.4

I had teh same problem at first
it seems to have to o with the tags that come with the OGG file

try renaming the file and renaming the tag and see if it happens again.

the player does support OGG, both the M6 and M3

a question to those who have experience with ogg vorbis : does it sound better than lame mp3 at low bitrates such as 115 kbps (this is lame's portable default) ? What happens at lower bitrates such as 96 kbps ?

I like the sound of 115 kbit vbr-mp3-lame very much. You should try the latest version of winlame with the "portable" preset. It's so far the best compression I have ever heard. Sounds like 160 kbit fraunhofer cbr for my ears. But I have no experience with ogg so far, so I wonder if it is getting even better than that.
If you disagree, we could make another "pepsi test" :D, this time with low bitrates. That'll be awesome anyway.

Curious about that encoder now
OGG however simply uses a more advanced algorithm hence the better sound quality

Yeah Job :D!!!!! Ogg is working fine now in my Meizu M3 (Music Card).
Thanks for you hint, due to that the most perfect DAP I have ever have is complete again!!!
I haven't tried M6 but my M3 do have the best sound of all my devices (I have to confess that I've put some old mp3 albums to listen to them in the M3 to enjoy its sound through my Koss earphones).
Concerning OGG in my humble opinion is the best lossy format, I prefer OGG over MP3 in any bitrate.
Anyway my preferences goes all the time for FLAC, because is a real lossless format (I haven try either WMA lossless yet)
Thanks once again Job

I'd like to do some encoding tests with ogg vorbis. What free program do you recommend ?

EDIT : I have found oggDropXP which worked very nice for me.
As far as I have tested, ogg sounds very good with low bitrates, I was amazed how much is left at even such low bitrates as 64 kbps.
But I really would like to make a "Low bitrate Pepsi test" featuring wma, ogg, lame, fraunhofer and the original. With bitrates 128, 112, 96, 80 and even 64. That would rock :-)
MiloFo .. would you be willing to do this for us ?

OMG, I am just listening to a 55 kbps ogg .. that's amazing. I want the others to make the blind test ! lol

welcome
I agree with you that OGG is the best lossy format... too bad it isnt supported more often as the quality is higher and the possibilities are much more elaborate(for example when used nsync with video)
FLAC is nice but 35 MB per song is too much imo

Not all tags

My software manage ID3v2 that allow me to insert cover art in MP3... it manage to do the same with OGG files... that was my problem... I can't add cover art in OGG files because it blocks my M3.

Anyway i can show cover art of OGG files by adding the pics to ALBUMS folder.

My Meizu
Hi guys, it seems that I can reproduce the error. My first newly tagged ogg file with cover art in the tag brought my M3 to a freeze.

Unfortunately the "Menu-button press 15 sec" reset method doesn't reset it. Any hints? I don't want to wait until the battrey is depleted...

... uups, now it's empty (after 8 hrs I wonder).. going to delete all coverart from all files at once with mp3tag!
