Audio sync problems

Is there anything that can be done to minimise or eliminate audio sync problems?

I download wmv files and re-encode them to XviD @ 25 fps to watch on my M3. They are around 40-50 minutes long but I find that while watching, the audio starts to lose sync with the video.

Is this an encoding problem or a playback problem with the M3?

Wouldn't it be great to be able to fast forward or rewind video on the M3

This has happend in some videos to me. But I don't care much because I use audio on the M3 like 99%

The M6 tends to have more audio sync problems as you progress more into the video (without fast forwarding or rewinding). To solve audio sync problems, just fast forward or rewind a little bit and the voice will be back in sync - that's for the M6, I'm sure the M3 is the same thing.

Also, the video itself has to be audio-sync free. I find that BatMan is a video converter that keeps perfect audio sync. Download it by search because it is in the German section (I am not German).

Borat, I have not yet made any experiences with the M3 since I do not know an owner. Would be nice if you could brief us on if it worked for you or not. I am not sure if the image processing of the M3 is a bit faster than the M6 (cause M6 screen has twice the pixels) and therefor plays the audio a bit to early. In that case you can manually adjust the offset with the "delay" command (read BatMan's help) and tell us what value you found out, so I could adjust the program.

oh, hm, yes. You were the Linux guy. So, how far have you come ? Did you find out more about WINE's configuration ? There must be (much) more to it than just "wine batman.exe"

• Directory structure. Applications expect to find and/or install things in specific predetermined locations. Most of these directories are expected to exist. But unlike Unix directory structures, most of these locations are not hardcoded, and can be queried via the Windows API and the registry. This places additional requirements on a Wine installation.

While the users are of course free to set up everything themselves, the Wine team will make the automated Wine source installation script, tools/wineinstall, do everything we find necessary to do; running the conventional configure && make depend && make && make install cycle is thus not recommended, unless you know what you're doing. At the moment, tools/wineinstall is able to create a configuration file, install the registry, and create the directory structure itself.
