    [WARNING] Possible M3 Hold\Lock Problem.

Recently I used the hold button on my M3 only to find that once engaged it could not be deactivated, not being able to do anything I reset the player only to find it would no longer boot and showed a locked warning on every attempt. A hard reset rendered the player totally unresponsive.

I have sent the player back for repair under warrenty but this does not appear to be an isolated incident. With a bit of research I found at least half a dozen threads on Meizu BBS related to the problem and it seems Meizu recognise the issue but return for repair is the only option.

I suggest avoiding the use of the hold button for the time being.

Just to explain a little more I do not think that this is an problem of epidemic proportions. I have used the Hold\Lock feature many times before without any issues. I think if it were a major design flaw there would be a lot more people experiencing the problem. I had to wade through 100's of posts going back a several months to find a hand full of people who were having the problem. I do not know if it is firmware or hardware related but I was running firmware T2.001.3 which was a bit buggy anyway. I will edit the thread title so it does not sound like an outbreak of Bird Flu and cause a panic.

Ouch... good thing you posted this here. It will save a lot of people... so this is a hardware problem? Guess those who have a M3 will never be able to use the hold button... unless you buy a new one.

By the "hold" button, do you mean the "lock" button on top? I have used it many times with no problem. My unit is was only bought a few days ago though.

I haven't encountered this problem, but I think this is because I use the crystal case for the M3.

The M3 crystal case, like that of the M6, has no opening for the hold button to be switched on/off, leaving the player unlocked at all times. Some might find this disappointing, but I prefer the protection that the crystal case offers and haven't found unintentional button-pressing (inside a pocket) to be an issue at all.

ooh, this is scary, I only just got one of these. Nothing has happened as yet, but now I'll have the fear..

Does anyone know whether this is related to a specific firmware version? Will it be fixed in an upcoming firmware version?

    Cheers
