It is mentioned in the specs of the Chinese Users Manuals, but was left off of the English Users manuals. Having had time to think about it since hjacobsen asked me about the ommission, I have two plausible reasons.
1) It was simply an oversight in editing/translating the English manuals or
2) This was deliberate on Meizu's part. Why? Sisvel licensing. The only players I believe that Meizu has licensing for Sisvel is on the Dane-Elec versions of the M6, which is required by D-E. It may also be on the other rebranded versions, but I'm not sure.
Since China doesn't seem to recognize or enforce patent infringement, it isn't an issue for the players sold in China. But, when you have an English Manual you assume it will find its way into the US or Europe, where the Sisvel patents are enforced. Of course this wouldn't really affect individual users or buyers since customs enforcement is focused on larger quantity imports.
Purely speculation on my part, but seems reasonable to assume Meizu is learning as they go forward. Oddly, the one thing that controverts this idea is that the English version of the Meizu OEM M6 does have MP3 in the specs. This may be more to do with the timing of the printings since the M3 is newer and they may have quite a few of the M6 Users Manuals from earlier printings. It would be interesting to note if future prited M6 English Manuals omit the MP3 reference.
