My own contributing two cents:
I witness 5 - 9 hour battery life. Screen brightness set to 30%. I turn off the LCD screen. I've been using Grado SR80 headphones (same impedence as the Meizu PT850) and the PT850s both at about the same volume levels.
I listen to audio files 2/3 of the time, FM tuner 1/3 of the time. My audio files are mostly WMA VBR; I've experimented with other formats.
I'm amazed at the sensitivity of the FM tuner. One station the M3 picks up is almost 200 km distant! I speculate the FM tuner draws much more power from the battery than audio file playback.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYup, 5 - 9 hours.
I think it's the FM tuner; it appears to draw more from the battery than the player.

I'm still inbetween deciding to get the M3 or M6.

Yeah, i'm starting to lean a little bit towards the M3 cause it cost a little less and i'm not sure that I will be using video all that much. Do you know any idea of when the M6SE or M3SE come out?
-
06-24-2007 #30I'll guess that M6SE will come out in nowember-december, so you'll need to a wait for a while if you want the M6SE. If Meizu will release the M3SE, then it will be next year I think. M8 and M6SE seems to be more important for them. The M6 SE is set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2007. However, Meizu CEO warns of possible delays. The development of the M3 SE has been suspended in order to hasten the development of the Meizu M6 SE and Meizu M8.
One thing is for sure, if you'll get the M3, you'll love it. After some firmware updates, it will be almost perfect.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI decided to get the m6 because of its better battery life.
The m6 is pretty small as well. If you don't need the smallest player on earth, go for the m6!
...even if you don't often watch videos. The big screen is dammed sexy! :D

Yeah lol, one side of me is like; ooh the M3 is soo small, and the other side is like; ooh the M6 is pretty small but such a big screen!

I picked the M3 because it is made for music (even if it plays video too, not to bad for being on a 1.5 inch screen) M3s display is very good for being small.
And, one important thing is that I very often use neckstrap for my music card and it is perfect because the m3 is so thin. It wouldn't be so good with the M6. I might get a M6SE(if it turns out as good as they say).
I also use crystal case for my m3, and it doesn't look so big with it, the M6 looks too fat with a crystal case ^^ Also, M3s sound is a bit "better"(crisper and cleaner) a bit less bassy as M6s sound tho.
I think that the M3 looks better than a M6(but M6 still looks very nice).
I think that you should get a M3 if you wont use video much and you don'y want a bigger DAP, but you can also wait for M6SE.
Because the original M6 has been out for a while and it might feel a bit "old" when M6SE comes out. And I still hope that M3SE won't have the ugly "brushed metal" look(like ipod nano 2d gen).

Hmm, yeah i think you're right the best option may be get the M3 now,and i'll wait to see about getting the M6SE later on so i won't be with an old M6. :D
edit: i was wondering, is the firmware for the M3 as good as the firmware so far for the M6? Because it seems like there is some more support for the M6.Last edited by dunno; 06-25-2007 at 12:54 AM.

I thought the same way. So I might get the M6SE. If it won't be any good, then im sticking to my M3 so my DAP won't feel too old :D But I'm almost sure that M6SE will rock!
I think that M6's firmware is better, because it had more updates. There's no buggs that personally annoy me on the M3 but some small things should(and hopefully will) get fixed. Meizu are working on a new firmware. :D
The M3 was better than I expected it would be when I got it

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAt the risk of opening an old thread....
if anyone wants to but an M3 or M6 in the UK, I can recommend www.climaxdigital.co.uk
I am in no way associated with them. I bought my M3 a few days ago and you can see my feedback for them on Amazon http://tinyurl.com/2vaoxn
At this moment I am their first and only feedback (bcch53). Once again I am in no way attached to climaxdigital but I think that when a company does things right, others need to know.
EDIT: if you are going to buy from them, you should buy from their website instead of Amazon. That way they don't lose a slice to Amazon.Last edited by Borat; 07-17-2007 at 04:49 PM.

no hesitation in buying my m3. i have had my 1gb e3 for a couple of years, i did a lot of research before i bought that player and the fact that it uses the superior phillips chipset and its excellent audio playback convinced me to go meizu. now i've cracked my e3 screen (which will be sent back to china for repair, as it really is such a good player!) i've replaced it with an 8gb m3. what a good move that turned out to be- awesome player ;

the M3 music card doesn't have issues such as playing the next track or the shuffle problem. Those problem lie on the M6 miniplayer. That is all down to firmware, and the firmware is always being updated. So please do check out the firmware logs and changes.
