The M3 has good visibility in sunlight?

Is it just me or does the M3 have a really good visibility in bright sunlight? It seems that black and white are emphasized in sunlight, creating a very visible screen.

Question can you still see the screen when the back light is off? they could have used the same kind of backing for the lcd as the ipod which is a dull silver
