I got an SL yesterday and set out trying to skin it. So far ive changed a lot about the looks, but i dont feel 'done' yet and im wondering what some of these things in the resource file are. (i tried to upload my resource file as a rar but it did not work =x Im afraid to upgrade to the latest firmware because i hear it causes exessive update times when you unplug it from usb - so i hope someone has the right file laying around -_-)

Ive looked around and found several guides that explain whats what, but i couldn't find one for 2.004.4 - I gather that the whole thing is such a mess that people dont even bother looking at the numbers by now, and just know what the different images are for. But i can only reffer to numbers..


Im using 2.004.4

546 and 545. What are these? Do i need to change them to match my skin? Or are they useless?

500 and 501. Same question=p

491 492 and 493. These are big batteries. What are they used for?

489 and 490. What are these?

383 and 384 - they look like shorter versions of the default empty and full progress bar thing. Do i need to change them or are they never used by anything?

382 - a very large grey rectangle. Whats it for?

379 - empty progress bar thing with little blue triangles at the end. huh?

64 - as far as i can tell, its a picture of nothing (that crazy purple). Is this useful for somthing? Is it some kind of mask or some such that could be alterd to give neat effects to things? 0_0

57-61 apear to be short sections of the menu highlight colors. What are they used for and do i need to change them to match the regular sized menu highlight bar things?

Finally, is there any way to keep the little 4 frame spinning arrow picture series that happens when you first plug in with USB moving? It spins a few times then stops. I thought it would be neat to have a little animation play while charging, but i cant the way things are now.

Oh, how can i change font colors? I already changed my font ^_^ But i want different colors, i assumed there would be a picture in the resource file somewhere with all the colors on it, but i dont see anything like that =x

057 - 061 - These need to be the same color of 052 - 056 if you want your select bar to match.

But ive almost got it all sorted out!

A few things that are bothering me though.

The grey bar at the top of the screen when charging or connected to usb. I cant figure out how to change it. I can only change the one that shows in the regular.. mode(? i guess=P)

Also when shutting down or manualy updating library, there is an annoying light grey box that shows up, i cant find any annoying light grey boxes in the resource thing. Is there a way to change this?

Oh well, i guess i have it all finished for what im going to be looking at on a normal basis. Its just things like that bug me is all.

I did not even realize about those battery charging images, as i always had my player turned on when i connected it!

I don't think you can modify the grey bars.
