"Resource files aren't open source files "

The original one is open, but all modified are owned by the creator.
There are no laws about it, just a few respect for the job that each skinner does

This skin is good looking, unfortunatly no font colors are readable ....
If you choose a bright one, you cannot read under the Wallpaper,
if you choose a dark one, you cannot read under the top bar.

So not really easy to use.

I was wondering if I could have the image you got the stainless steel part of the background from. I have been trying to find an image I could use, or a pattern, to make stainless steel on images that looks real. I would LOVE to have the exact image they used for the OS-X windows and stuff, but there's no way to get that.

there is such a thing called plagiarism. it's more of a literary term but i think the concept is more or less the same. just as in term papers, when you quote from someone else's work, you include a reference in your footnote, giving credit to that person.

in this case, since you used ndee's resource file as a base for yours (i assume this is what ndee meant) you should have acknolwedged him/her (sorry ndee, not sure if you're a girl or a guy :D) accordingly

there's nothing wrong with using another skinner's resource file as a springboard for your own work, as long as people know about it.

Technically, Meizu's default resource skin was also made by a skinner... we just don't know their name.

Anyway, I say using others' resource is fine as long as you say in your post that you used things from someone else's, but personally, I don't think it's too big a deal if someone doesn't say right off hand. A few others have already done that in some skins already here, and the authors just recognized they used their skins and commented, then the other person would say they think the elements they used from the artists' resource was really great, so they used them in their skin.

But, if they try to say THEY created the other person's stuff, then it's definitely a bad thing.

agreed, just remember to mention who's the original skinner/designer of the work you modified when you use his/her work as a base.
Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

Yeah, where did it go? If it's gone, I'm going to have to take it off the skins list... There's no need to remove it, just give credit for some things to Ndee.
