Elixir Skin 2.003.2

.: philosopher's stone: a hypothetical substance that the alchemists believed to be capable of changing base metals into gold
.: a substance believed to cure all ills

This concept was first visualized as a website but since I have been way to busy to work on my site, I decided to make it into a Meizu skin thinking that it will be less work. It turned out to be almost as complicated as making a flash based website.
I have already spent over 10 hours with this skin and it seems like I still have much more to do. With that said though, I have the basic design done which includes the background and most of the icons. I do have to tweak them because the icons show that purplish colour around the edges of the texts. If anyone has a solution to that please let me know.

Overall, I thought that I have done a decent job. Although I did make skins for winamp but this is something entirely new to me.
Please leave a comment if you use it and any changes you wish to suggest. I will take all of them to consideration at least.

So the idea of this design, those of you are wondering, stems from the background entirely. I wanted to show Elixir (as in eternal life) to be colourful and vibrant. So in order to keep the background dominant I have chosen to make everything else minimalistic. Therefore, I only used a white 1pixil rectangle to show progress of a song and such. I would however, like to keep my icons which only state abbreviated forms of them in plain text (if this doesn't make sense, then use my skin and you will know what I am talking about), but without the purplish haze around them. Please let me know if you have any suggestions to solve this dilemma.

I have had my Meizu for a while now and always wanted to make a skin, but never got around it. Although, NDee makes superb skins, I was enticed to make my own. So here it is without further delay. Hope you like it.

judging by the pictures this one really looks nice!

It's certainly a good attempt and finally a skin, which has some kind of background or idea behind it.
You mentioned the dominant background, which is imho too dominant. I don't think it will look good if a album cover is displayed, because it irritates somehow.
I still voted that you should go on skinning, because I'm sure you can do decent skins, especially with an interesting idea behind it.

Thanks for your critique. I dont think an album cover will irritate the bg, however. I am using it right now and it seems to look fine but that is just my opinion.

thanks mate. do you know how to get rid of the purplish haze around the texts?

The 'purplish haze' appears if you mix the desired colour with the pink background (which is only invisible if it's purely pink).

Hey thanks for the tip but i m not sure i know what you mean. What do you mean by if i mix the desired colour with the punk background? Do you mean i cannot have any gradients and it has to be a solid colour?

I didn't try it yet, so I'm sure you can judge better. I'll try it tomorrow, when I have more time.

i dint think it was dark... it had colorful designs in the corner but i guess its to each is his own... thanks for the comment
