i am just trying the dual bootloader...

could you explain this step a little more:

after upgrade, you can overwrite stock Meizu OS to disk right now.

if you don't like your dualboot or something that you just don't like. You enter the upgrade mode (play+volume-up button) and you can connect your M8 to use it as usb disk then you overwrite the dualboot firmware with a normal firmware from meizu, disconnect from computer and reinstall the normal firmware

I suggest you overwrite your previous stock Meizu xip.bin in M8 disk after upgrade, before you click restart.
It make you can flash your M8 to origin MeizuOS at any place, without a computer n usb cable.

@evow04:

r in r1, r2 means rev1 rev2, like many svn nightly builds.
it's too small because I built loader from git, not svn, so I increse rev number on each public download.
It will looks "like" nightly build if more guys joined cooking like x264 builds.

filename scheme for my distro: mdroid_codename_revnumber_parts_state

@r3wDy:

platform repo have allthings except kernel.
I check platform n kernel into 2 folders.
I'll moving to newer linux / android original kernel later.
they have more drivers eg WM8993 in SE, but in 2.6.32 it seems old 6410 driver failed on compile, they use lots of old defination.

Been trying to install a few apps into the android img, works, but apps are loaded into a small area of the screen. They do run very smooth though ( Tried monopoly ).

Some apps don't work because they need extra buttons the M8 doesn't have, so you have to reboot then ( you can't exit those apps )

If anyone needs any help or a clear tutorial ( i've searched some time ) to install apps, let me know.

EDIT : offcourse, all applications written for android are meant for the 320x240 screen of the htc devices...

When using certain apps it automatically switches to portrait mode, with the menubar still functional ( breaktheball, for example )

@Banxian : When using dualboot release, when in the meizu OS, the device stops responding to input ( the screen stays black ), although it is still on ( I've tried calling it ). Only a soft reset helps.

that sound obvious, but on what are you commenting cause i can not follow :s (just got up lol)

Banxian, i had some mindspins on tinyloader,
cause you wanted it to lookmore modern and wanted to pass by the landscape problem.
It could easily be solved just by having a background designed in portrait, flipped over to landscape and stored like that, then import in tinyloader and provide graphical boot information to avoid problem while ouputting text.
Then it looks like portrait.. simple example (sorry i have no graphical skills)

platform repo have allthings except kernel
since you used the aesop kernel, where could we find it then?

They do run very smooth though ( Tried monopoly ).
great !
If anyone needs any help or a clear tutorial
why not opening a topic on that on? i covered a little bit on page 1 here, but a more in detail would be usefull!

if you flashed with the dualboot fw, hang m8 on pc and delete the xip.bin from /disk and make sure you copied over the img file to /disk.

restart m8 and see..
keep in mind that 16 gb are still not supported (right?)

aesop kernel can be downloaded from aesop.kr

To the wlan thing: I treid to load libertas driver but eveb in bootlog no mmc card (which in fact is an sdio device) can be found. I would expect something like this in bootlog
mmc1: new SDIO card at address 0001

But nothing. so no wonder that the driver doesnt load...

SPI driver is no implemented in bills kernel but in aesop kernel. i will try to inject the sources in bills kernel and see

To the gsm thing: we have three uarts in linux, but i can create only one ttyS device succesfully. In bootlog they mentioned with s3c6400-uart.1-3 at MMIO. One of them is our serial port the other two remain. I think there were 4 serial ports in wince (accoring to registry / control panel) com 1+2 normal and com 7 9 for modem i will experiment with it

Hi!

Wow that's a nice hacking page. So i just decided to register here
Really appreciate your work.
I refered to this thread in the XDA-developers forum. See here:
[PRJ] Boot linux natively on a WM device - xda-developers
I hope it's O.K. for you.

Don't know if you already knew this page:
Samsung Semiconductors

There's a lot of useful information at this page.
E.g. Linux kernel source with a graphic addon!
Also a simple JTAG tool (SJF6400) to reflash some code in NAND

Keep up your great work!!!

Cheers,

scholbert

No problem, spread the word
(btw i think with Kernel injection in XIP you could run linux on any WM device :P)

@all i just did a serial log of wifi enable. got this
=== GSPISWLD24SP_8015 Driver ===<<Error msg is on>>
<<Tx-Fragment msg is on>>
<<Rx
-Fragment msg is on>>
<<Performance tuning msg is on>.
GSPI - Using DMA mode
GSPI -
So i think we have indeed a SPI connected wlan card. i compiled the spi driver from aesop kernel already an loaded it, but dunno what to do with it ^^ I will do more research

i did the same with bluetooth too but without intereseting information for now

Further i used minicom to send AT to alle serial ports, but no modem wnnted to answer OK (

Hi Scholbert, welcome!

Just read the xda link, do think if some users jump on it, it could be very usefull. However that 1 guy is right, loading without haret could mean some things would need to be rebuild. But i wonder how easily something can be injected after the htc bootloader.
Goodluck with your research!

And thanks for that 1 page, it does contains some interesting information and kernels for our 6410 chip.

just did a serial log of wifi enable.
that is a good sign, no error on loading!

btw, did you by any chance tried to load the sd with bill his instructions?

i must register before i would find the kernel i think?
