OK, first of all I would like to say that I know nothing about programming and encoding, but I'm very interested In knowing more about my phone... the Meizu M8.
And because I want to know about it, I would like to know If it's possible (in a near future) to install a different OS on our phones... as Meizu's one it's kind of limited for now as it does not offer the best of Windows Mobile (some apps work, most don't) and it does not offer the best of a free and open source OS.
So, this is when HARET shows... from my understanding it's a reverse engineering tool to "boot" into Linux in Windows.
I've read here that Haret didn't worked on Meizu M8... but the post was old so I tried it on Firmware 0.9.1.0. It worked, although not running in "system mode".
So I tried to connect through HARET / TELNET to my Meizu M8 and It basically worked, I could rune some commands on it (remember I know almost nothing and I don't want to screw my phone) like POWERMON and SETLCD.
Well... that's all for now, I'll keed trying to lear a little bit more.
I don't know if these are GOOD NEWS or OLD NEWS...
Best Regards and looking for your replies.

Thanked 2 Times in 2 PostsWith an international release of the Meizu M8 we would probably see more development on alternative OS's...
For now, it's very difficult... although the hardware of the M8 it's pretty "standard" (and powered) for a smart phone so there are possibilities of port other OS's in a near future.
I would like to see a more technical approach on this matter.
Best Regards.
