Lightbulb [project]Port Windows Mobile 6.x to Meizu M8

    Hello everyone,

I'm starting this thread because I'm trying to port Windows Mobile 6.x to M8. I don't know if I'll be able but I'll try

I know some people are going to say that they don't want this OS, but it has some advantages : more apps, landscape sms, easy apps development ... Some could say we need a stylus but with 6.5 we don't need one

    I'm going back to work,
    See you!

I'd recommend to go for Android for M8 rather than loosing time on adapting WinMo 6.x, because Android has all the advantages that you cited in your post, but is far better than WinMo in:
    - software diversity
    - lots of recent software supporting recent and updated services: I have a WinMo 6.5 device, and I really see that the majority of the available software becomes gradually outdated and looses compatibility with the service it's supposed to provide, like Skype, Facebook, Twitter, etc... and no one is developing or upgrading these apps anymore.
    - Android will evolve, while MinMo is plain dead and will stay this way.
    - gaming on Android is a better experience, also better and newer games are being developed for it. On WinMo, you get only old stuff, and it's kinda frustrating.
    - Android has far better battery power management (I have a dualboot device and I see it clearly: when using Android, the fully charged battery lives 1/3 longer than under WinMo 6.5).

In a few words, porting WinMo to M8 is like transplanting Windows 98 onto a 2010 iMac: can be done, but no sense in it at all though..

But, if he has skills in WinMo then it is clever if he tries to port it instead of forgetting all that he learned and beginning with android development.
Furthermore, i think the LBE Team doesn't share their information with the pubic. But I'm not sure...

well they do (a bit) but you really need to ask them the information they wanted.
see https://github.com/lamian for a contact address.
But I understand what you mean, a bit more public documentation could help the port.

go for Android for M8 rather than loosing time
when i read sheldon his/her older posts I think it's more like a practice to port wp7, could be wrong though & you have a point.

Porting it to the M8 could become a real pain because of the capacitive touchscreen...

Yes, eboot seems a good choice.

WiMo 6.5 supports capacitive screens, but I'm not sure if it's possible to have multitouch...

it might support it, but there is no use on wm.

    it's the easiest way.
You might try to practice first with building a custom wince6 rom.
It will require less work and will provide you a hold-on for you project.
