Thanked 32 Times in 15 PostsWindows Mobile 7 on Meizu M8/M9
Just found a Windows 7 ROM fully unlocked by someone called Dan. The rom is not taken from a phone. its a rom used in the windows 7 emulator.
This is not my area but is there a way to start porting it to meizu? I know it lacks drivers and so on.. but its a good start.
If you want to try it you will need this:
Visual Studio 10 express
http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/
Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Full windows 7 rom
Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
Install everything
Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\WindowsPhone\v7.0\Emulation\Images
Copy the full rom WM70Full.bin to that location and rename it to WM70C1.bin
You can replace to old .bin file if there is one

Thanked 26 Times in 18 PostsThe porting of this could be possible and maybe even easy.
It is rumored that Windows Phone 7 will be based on CE6, the current basis for the M8. This means that drivers would not be a major issue.
One particular issue is the strict Microsoft requirements for Phone 7. It must have 5 buttons: Start, Back, Camera, Bing Search and Power. The M8 also does not comply with the screen size, the need for a compass, an FM radio and 4-point multitouch (M8 only has 2-point AFAIK, may be different with M9)
If the M9 is Android based then that practically reduces any chance of having Windows Phone 7 on it.

Thanked 50 Times in 30 PostsOn some German blogs it says it only needs three buttons (Start, Search, Back), but on engadget it says five, and I don't really get the official website. Why does everything have to be so flashy nowadays?
Well, anyways, the requirements are quite discouraging for the M9; I mean, 8GB of internal storage - AND no support for microSD.
But seriously, what is MS thinking with these requirements? They want the phones to have five buttons, and apps are not allowed to override the function of the button. No microSD support, but if your phone has microSD support, then it is not supposed to be swappable; if you do it, you reset your phone. What kind of bullsh*t is this? That's even worse than Apple...I am glad that the M8 has an open OS that allows me to do as I please.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsIndeed the word on the street is that win mo 7 is CE 6 based & that makes it indeed easy to port drivers to it.
It must have 5 buttons:buttons can be reprogrammed to use simulated buttons(example combinations of sound + power key).Cant u disable buttons from registry and
I think the biggest problem could be the need for a 1ghz cpu.The M8 also does not comply with the screen size,
@Loonix , were you crazy by doing that ? :D
Btw by using the wince 6 kernel for win mo 7 it becomes clear on why MS promised too meizu to make apps for other win mo os compatible with win ce 6.. if you know what i mean :-)

Thanked 200 Times in 145 PostsI depended on my half knowledge that flashing a 'normal' .bin file with the M8 updater would not kill the M8 updater itself
... i know, i am blond ^^
but indeed after removing the battery i could start into the upgrade mode and copy the 0.9.7.1 firmware file over to revive my m8 =)
on a sidenote... if it is a full image it might give some info via the serial output or via usb? (did not try that)Meizu M8 SE - FW 0.9.9.18 (dao89 n450) Dualboot LBE A11 Android 2.2

I think the touch screen is the most problem....WP7 only have 800X480 and 480X320 ,and M8's touchscreen is 720X480...

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsYeah i´ve seen the news, interesting to follow!
indeed but since the os itself isn´t been released yet & keeping in mind that HD2 is not officialy been supported they did a very good job.runns kind of laggy on HD2!
I do expect that it will run flawless very soon since the HD2 has a lot of users. It will be very funny if this will be the case:-)
btw it could be done for the m8, but who will do it ;-)

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt seems a little odd as MS claims, they made the WP7 OS from scratch this time.
