Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsOh my, somehow i most have missed your posting.
ATM we only have JTAG pinout for FE, Since the SE has an other pinout we canīt just plug it in.
Myself didnīt try much anymore on JTAG since i donī want to send my M8 a second time to china :-)
nice! Two failed connector Board for M8 (not SE).
I think I can make a fine borad this week.
Can you say what the draw of this is, and what it is supposed to do?
(canīt really see it:P)
ps welcome back :-)

Thanked 200 Times in 145 PostsMaybe these are better visible for you

These seem to be the previous boards that did not work out.
In the 1st picture on the upper board the acid did not eat all the copper from the board that was not printed
The second board in the bicture looks OK.
in the 2nd picture you can see a PCB after 'washing' it and while the protective print dissolves.
I am wondering a bit why he does not use a strip board for this but he is experienced in this, not me.Last edited by Loonix; 06-15-2010 at 08:32 AM.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 Poststhanks Loonix, seems i had some issueīs with the popups(DHTML ?).
Stripboards are old school, printing your own PCBīs is very hot ATM :-)
(i think hackaday had an article about this very recent)
Anyway, still wondering what the purpose is of the PCB,
must be a convertor for the JTAG reader but... time will tell :-)

Our friends from AM8 are storing as much technical info as they can.
Banxian, nice to see the progress. I hope it will respond once finished since this would mean serious progress on the project.

Thanked 113 Times in 35 PostsJMem worked.
I get two PCB design problem.
1. I record space of M8 jtag line as 3.1mm. infact it's 2.1mm.
2. I connected M8 3.0v to JTag power supply. it's need to connect to VTRef.
When I corrected these problem, JMem read some words from my M8.
But I can't get it work now. maybe I should buy some new pogo pins.
my current pins is hard to press down, I must press hard to get it contact with M8.Last edited by banxian; 06-19-2010 at 03:18 PM.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 Postscrap, that is not good news!
Do you think it will still work then?
And are you planning on re-inforcing your custom PCB like a dummy battery to keep everything in place while debugging or..?

Thanked 113 Times in 35 Postsbecause I align last pins line to bottom points on M8 FE, and I missed line space from 2.1mm to 3.1mm. so first line crashed my cap...
I think I can't use sim card, or simcard get unstable.
I'll test it tommorw.
I attached a dummy cell progress

Thanked 200 Times in 145 PostsDamn again.
Is it possible to replace that micro capacitor with a crude big one?
that would be far from perfect because no SIM would fit anymore but better then nothing (i could never get one of those micro capas let alone solder it to the board
)
your dummy looks pretty good but it covers much interesting stuff '^^
<3 the way you cut through for the sim card holder.
does it provide the 3.7v to emulate the battery through the cables connected?
I thought your cables would come out somewhere left of the SIM using some kind of socket connector, judging your last PCB pictures.
but for now, have pleasent dreams.Meizu M8 SE - FW 0.9.9.18 (dao89 n450) Dualboot LBE A11 Android 2.2

Thanked 113 Times in 35 PostsI ordered some Phosphor Bronze Tablets to make softer connectors.
Maybe it's have more cost than pogo-pins, but should safer to reduce deformation of M8's PCB.
and I get SE Jtag layout now, I'll start to make dummy battery for SE tomorrow.

Thanked 113 Times in 35 PostsJ-Link: works on Windows, designed to debug linux app/kernel. have stock linux driver and limited support. some cheap clone may force upgrade their firmware with linux driver, and then stop working. my clone can use newest firmware like a stock one.
OpenJTag: have better experience under linux, but I havn't tested.
