out of interest, what has the cheapass mobile phone (hiphone) got to do with the mp4player on discussion here. This player aint no mobile and hiphone is well renowned as being in a class of crapnesss all of its own, im not getting why the hiphone would turn you against this player - chalk and cheese

Sorry to say... but you are not in topic and completely wrong... first this Teclast player is not a phone it's just a PMP (Portable Multimedia Player) as Meizu M7 will be: a multimedia player.

Being a Teclast player there is no reason to doubt about its quality... Teclast player are good devices, as Meizu are. Combined with Wolfson audio decoder result has to be very satisfactory.

About comparison among Teclast T50 and Meizu M7

This Teclast T50 is a new generation of Rockchip players with similar characteristics with Onda VX858 which is a past generation of Rockchip chip. Responsiveness of touch screen is clearly better than those players and comes with lots of function to optimize its appearance.

But still are Rockchip players with the limitation that rockchip still has today, for instance the player shown in the video it's not capable of display cover art, which is a must for any serious music player. Don't get confused with the graphics shown at the beginning of this topic, which are just that... promotional designs. Probably support for cover art will come in future firmware version. Teclast is a regular upgrader of firmwares... so it possibly will happened in the near future but this it's not available yet, AFAIK.

Meizu M7 supposedly will have all the functions of M6 plus lots more beside a bigger screen. Then it should be lots better than T50.

What I wish for M7 is a device that has the functions and quality of the best PMP appeared in the market some time ago as it's Cowon D2, plus a bigger screen and... for god sake without the Philips audio codec which despite of bring a great sound... is the cause of the infamous stuttering.

well...I saw this a while back and although this looks nicer than a lot of chinese players, after watching the video and reading many forum posts i'm not totally convinced. The Rockchip Rk2607 chipset still has a number of limitations and problems and I'm really not sure how well implemented the touch screen and firmware on this player will be. It will certainly be nowhere near the smooth, enjoyable GUI experience you would get from an ipod touch.

As for the M7...at the moment it is literally only a dream IMO. I don't think Meizu have even started doing anything on the M7 as all their resources have gone into the M8. However I still think that if and when it does come out it will still be a lot better than this. The M6 is in a different class from all teclast players.

i bet meizu cant even remember the M7 theselves, it was so long ago that this was touted about and then it was nothing but a photoshop style image of what they wanted it to look like, plus some speculation

i wonder now if meizu regret leaving the mp4 market behind and doing phones, surely this has eaten up a hell of aalot of time and money, and the meizu m6 is being slowly eaten away in market share by more capable video orientated players with the foucus on RMVB being massive in china

i was amazed when i got my SL player (as replacement for SP) in the complete lack of the accessories that also made this player stand out, cost cutting obviously made this happen, so meizu is feeling the competition nipping large chunks out of its market and if the m8 does not do well i doubt meizu will recover enough to even think about another player

as a side note the audio on these new rckchips is pretty damn good ven without the wolfon as the T50 has, so in terms of sound this player should be up to the SL in quality (sp in my opinion sounded much better than sl)

i also agree with daremos, cover art is a MUST for me to feel that this is a true music player, it just feels so much better having the art as wel as th music

I also need album art like itouch style lol. I hope album art is just a limitation of the programming side of things and not the actual rockchips "chip" itself. =\

Wow... that's a nice advertisement alright! Unfortunately, we are only able to get the MP4 player, and not the girl from the advertisement

Anyway, isn't this the Samsung YP-P2 lookalike that was mentioned here? It had a much nicer design before, I wonder why they changed it (maybe it wasn't very easy to produce):

not implementing album art is just laziness on the programmers part, there is nothing stopping them, they just dont see it as important. They just like adding more and more features, like tv out, cameras rather than refining whats already there, like meizu has done (and will hopefully do more!!)

as for those original renderings of the player again its a case of speaking before thinking, Teclast with mp4 players advertise first then get the product from the factory (or not), though i do agree the previous design looks alot slicker
