Meizu M7 announced! (like ipod touch!)

Meizu's showing off some renders of their upcoming Meizu M7, along with specs and pricing information. We suppose that leaving all the UI work to Apple and co-opting it later allows them to keep prices at a low $100, $110, and $150 for the 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models respectively. As for the size, it's got a 2.8-inch display with 480x228 resolution and measures 3.5 x 1.9 x 0.3 inches externally. If Meizu can really pull out an iPod touch-like player for $150 with the same UI, they've got a winner on their hands.

Apparently it has TV out too and a bunch of other features.. sweeet! especially at that price!

what!!!! they can't just steal apples UI can they????, this is all very strange. And H.264 for video???? whats that about? are they actually trying to become apple? what about Xvid Support? plus the fact 2.8inch is a bit small for decent viewing experience. It appear that they are going to make a clone of the samsung P2 with an apple GUI. This is madness!!!.........Does this mean their gonna start bundling some shitty software and restricting format support???? this is all very scary, is this for real???? If this doesn't support xvid I will never buy another meizu product as long as i live! maybe j. Wong got a call from jobsy saying he was gonna sue him and they struck some deal about supporting apple formats. This could be a very sad day for meizu fans everywhere

in my opinion i dont think the video support will be restricted to H.264, i mean every other video player meizu has released has been able to play the usual formats.. bearing in mind these are the first initial specs of the product being released i would expect the final specifications to include Divx.

As for the software meizu's own version of the apple touch OS could be interesting, its not going to be exactly the same but i hope it takes some of the best features from the ipod touch and adds a few new ones

am i correct in thinking the m8 will support xvid??? also buy the time this drops no one is going to want 2/4/8gb players, when everything else will be at least 16gb. Plus the samsung P2 has a 3 inch screen, so if meizu does not support all the usual formats xvid, flac, ogg etc then the only thing this will have going for it will be the price and perhaps drag and drop. Then again by the time this comes out samsung p2 prices will probably have dropped loads too. Seems like a very strange move by meizu.

Despite of "Apple heart" of Sere83, it's supposed that M7 will appear initially as a shitty iPod touch... but those as me who dislike deeply Apple products, will manage to change everything to make appear as a different thing via skinning, which is something that Apple never allow its users.

looks great! but why not make the screen bigger/profile smaller? all that wasted space on the bottom for just one button? at least put a touchpad or something that actually uses that space... ipod design isn't always the best...

I might buy this but only if it has memory expansion such as SDHC because 8GB is way too low.
