it took them years of development to figure out how to do it properly. Here is a snippet from their secret firmware labs :
Code:
 ...
if {diff(system.clock.FirstStart,system.clock.Today) >= 12 months} do
{switch x=randomize(100)
<=10 : ApplyElectroShock
==11 : this.device.InstantlyDie(norecovery)
}
...

lol, but my Meizu M6 is working happily after over a year... iPods are horrible though... Check out the eBay listings for broken ones... Make sure you have unlimited data.

^ You're exactly right, and there is a TON of 5G iPods on there now, it's been that way since they came out.

Ok me like Meizu again!
I might be able to fix it. Today I do get a popup for new hardware while yesterday it didn't work.

I'm trying to do the DFU method without success cause my XP is 64bit and when adding the drivers from the DFU installed dir it fails to install thus I can't launch DFU tools to continue.

I'm sure I'll find a solution for that, at least I get any reaction to the power button.

You have 64-bit XP? Did you do any research before you upgraded, or did Microsoft slip that in a major update?

Years ago I used XP64bit, too. It was a mess to get working drivers for your hardware

Yeah, that's why I skipped on buying a new 64-bit Vista laptop. It was a great price too... But 64-bit ruined the deal for me, because I would have to buy a 32-bit Vista Home Premium "upgrade" edition that would cost me more than a different choice.

Oddly, unless you pay more than $1500 in China for a laptop, you will usually only get Home Basic... And the laptops here are much more expensive than Canada. Meh, oh well.

Wait, there is no problem getting drivers for your hardware for Vista x64. Vista x64 is just great! Just don't use hardware, which is older than ... 5 years or so. It could work or not.
I have hardware, which did not work on XP 64-bit, but which is working perfectly on my Vista x64
